Our guide Eugene was very knowledgeable about both the flora and the fauna of the area. From him I learned that the name canola comes from Canadian Oil Association! We were a group of 6 hikers walking the Pilgrimage of Hope trail from Hermanus to Cape Agulhas. We had allocated a day of rest in the middle of the trail affording us the opportunity to experience the Nuwejaars Wetlands tour. It took around 2 hours during which time we saw various buck, Sable and the crazy Wildebees charging off in all directions. Quite an entertaining sight to behold. The hippo were unfortunately not playing ball that evening so we did not get to see them. Maybe next time...
Thank you Eugene for a wonderful wetlands tour experience.

We went on the Nuwejaars Wetlands Frog Adventure. 13 of us met at Oystercatcher wine farm. After an informative introduction we set out to the wetlands to look for frogs.
We could hear that there were many, but they are not so easy to spot. We found a tiny micro frog - wonderful to inspect it from nearby.
It is great to see how passionately people can be about nature.

We went on a tour specifically to see the Cyrtanthus novus-annus and were not disappointed. We spent a very enjoyable and informative afternoon under Eugene's guidance in this unique area.

This is a must do when in Bredasdorp and should be on every travellers to do list when visiting the area. We went on a early morning game drive and please wear warm clothes on the early morning game as it gets very chilly out on the planes, we saw lots of buck and birdlife, however the hippos were a bit shy on the day. After a while you get welcomed with warm drinks and rusks before continuing the rest of the drive. This is a value for money experience!!
