What a gorgeous part of England that took us by surprise after coming in from Scalby, York and London.

Ventured to Buttermere following meetings in Cumbria during the day for a bit of a wind down. Arrived late afternoon and got parked fine in the National Trust car park (fee to members). Nice stroll into the village, stop off for ice cream, toilet stop...More

A lovely lake walk that allows you to walk around on footpaths with beautiful uninterrupted views through woodland and open countryside. There is a small part that is on the road but it is no longer than 200 yards or so. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed...More

I’ve been walking/visiting the Lakes for 54 years and this place is one of my favourites. I have a photo of Miffo, one of my dogs, taken from the top of Fleetwith Pike overlooking Buttermere, this is the place where our ashes will rest together.

Yes it's a heatwave and a weekend but it was very busy here and it's not school holidays yet. We just got parked in time - huge queue that blocked the tiny village when we left. You have to pay for parking in the village...More

One of the most spectacular lakes. It’s small in comparison to many of the other lakes, but it’s easy to walk around, easy to swim in if you’re keen, and takes about 2 hours to walk around depending on how often you stop to admire...More

My Dad and I came here in July 2018 after we had walked up Scafell Pike a day before. Its a lovely lake which has nice pubs nearby to grab a bite to eat. Its a good walk around the lake, with lovely scenery.

This is one of the smaller lakes in The Lake District and is perfect for those seeking a decent walk without a steep ascent. The scenery around Buttermere is just stunning and can be enjoyed practically all year round (although parts of it can get...More
