I loved Lobitos beach. It is very quiet and peaceful, not many people around. The downside is the town is almost a ghost town. Very few places to eat, and they all have off hours. One lady told us she would be open for lunch the next day for us. When we went, she was closed and wouldn't respond to our questions (typically peruvian). If you go, stay in a hostel that has food service or bring your own food. The beach is nice and quiet, the view is okay but you can see the oil rigs from the beach.

Lobitos is a weird town, once home to a now-abandoned military base and site to many oil rigs. It´s growing, and home to excellent surf and pretty sunsets, but still lacks in infrastructure (restaurants, stores) and easy transportation (it suffers on Sundays). But it´s a hidden gem among other beaches in Piura, and highly recommended despite being off the beaten path.

Beautiful desert beach with great places and people. Small, quiet and great to learn surfing as a beginner.

Lobitos is a great beach, but in the winter it can be a little windy! So don't forget to bring some coats beside the beach clothes

We just started to surf green waves, so the spot was too difficult to us. The waves were too big and steep. There are only two spots, where the waves don't close-out or fall explicitly on the shore, they are only 10 meters long each, and there are always 10-20 surfers on the line-up, even in the early morning.
And also, there is nothing to do on a longboard. I haven't seen any happy longboard surfer. And there were not so many shortboard surfers, who were really surfing that waves, instead of sitting on the line-up, and that surfers were really good. Again, may be we just had a bad luck with waves.
May be we just had a bad luck, but it was very messy near the shore.
The bottom is sandy, but I still would recommend to put on surf boots / coral shoes, because there are very unpleasant stones approximately between the spots, in the middle of the beach.
On weekends many people come from Talara to the beach and litter. It gets really disgusting to go into the water, with whirpools of plastic bags and food boxes around. The next day locals clean the beach and it gets ok.

This is a left hand break beach full of surfers and swell all year around . The beach itself isn't the cleanest with all the dogs and cars on it but the scenery is lovely . The sunsets and sunrises are beautiful and the caves are cool to explore . The people are fiendly and the boys pervy mostly ... There aren't many women around ;p . It's not the best place to learn how to surf as the waves can be big or the waves are small and all the local boys are STILL trying to catch them . Not good for beginners in either sense . Would be a great place to kite or wind surf , it's sooooo windy .

Nothing to do with mancora or vichayito. Although the one I liked the most was Vichayito because it is the combination of relaxation and having everything close by. Mancora very tuburized already.
