It's a scenic and beautiful walk/ride on the path of an old railway. Very flat and enjoyable, full of locals.

It's a beautiful route I can't get enough of. The views are spectacular and the aroma of the sea gives you life. I do not give it five stars because the start of route from Benicasim is under construction and takes away charm. Too bad to have to exploit these beautiful areas.

Located at the end of the Benicassim paseo heading towards Oropesa, this 5.5km walk is a must for all able bodied visitors. The walkway is split into a gravelled side for the walkers and a road type surface for the cycles. There are signs clearly showing which side you must use. Along the route, you pass through high cliff wall passes, a well lit tunnel and many open areas with lush green vegetation around you. The rocky seashore with the waves crashing upon it, against the beautiful blue sky was truly stunning to see. The path does graduate up slowly but it's not too taxing. There were many people using their electric bikes to travel the route. Along the route are markers showing you the km you are at and also many signs in Spanish telling you about the plants about you. It was an extremely pleasant walk in the winter sun of February but I would imagine than in the heat of the summer, it would be very different.
The walk finishes at the paseo in Oropesa which has a few beach front bars and restaurants to have a well deserved drink and a bite to eat before you make the return trip.

I walked to Oropesa from Benicasim and back. It's probably around 15km back to the beach in Benicasim. It's an easy walk with some nice views en route. Lots of cyclists who use the tarmac bit of the path whilst walkers use the rougher side. There is only one place to stop for refreshments en route, probably nearer Oropesa than Benicasim.

We were staying at the Voramar which is yards from the route and I went for rides on four days along this route very easy to follow great views and good links into bencasim and other local towns. Spanish highways engineers put ours to shame.

Beautiful stretch but busy after early morning. I rode it at 7am and it was a beautiful sunrise. Gravel for walkers and pavement for riders.

Great views along the vía verde. Is 8k to Oropesa. Please respect the cyclists and runners in the area, annoying to have to stop because of the crowdy path

Riding along from Benicasim to Oropesa you come across some beautiful views and the cycling is easy. There are a lot of restaurants once you get to Oropesa and a pretty beach. Along the route there are places to stop and sights to visit on foot.

This is a quiet way to spend a few hours, just don't go with teenagers ("this is boring", "can we go now?", "I'm hot", etc).
It is very tranquil, but be warned there is very little shade along the route so try to avoid the hottest part of the day.
We started the trail near Club Nautico De Orepesa del Mar, just drive past the marina, under the bridge and you can park any where there on rough ground (in the shade thankfully).
We walked as far as Torre de la Colomera, which is about a 45 min amble. The tower is looked after by volunteers and is open on Fridays and Saturdays only (till 1pm), worth a climb to the top for some good views.
A walk down to some of the rocky bays is worth the effort.
There are plenty of other walkers, joggers and cyclists about.
All in all a nice way to spend some time

We found out that you can get free bike rental for 7 days as long as you pay 50 euros deposit. We cycled to Oropesa and had lunch by the beach. Lovely picnic stops on the route.

Hola.
