This neat little train took us right to the end of the track in Waussern for the Ebenalp cable car, which was right across the roadway.

Not only can you reach most places in the canton using the railways, it is also a pleasure to cruise through the landscapes, cross rivers on high bridges and the like. Enjoy.

This "little red train" is a perfect way to travel between Appenzell and Gossau or Herisau to make connections to other cities. You can count on it being on time with the schedule.

Train service is great and never a bad view. One train we were on had to switch to a bus for a leg due to track work, and even that ran like clockwork.

Visit to Äscher mit zug von Appenzell Sehr Ruhrgebied und gut. We walked from campingsite to Appenzell and with train to Hemisau and there we walked to Äscher ( tough) through the forest ,wildkirche and top and back with cablecar. It was heavy but great.

Very pleasant narrow gauge railway linking the St. Gallen Bahnhof (Main train station) and Appenzell. Short walk to most shops, hotels and restaurants in the area.

This is what call the rural "Hop-on Hop-off" bus/train. We used it to see the local countryside, to visit St Gallen, or to access the numerous mountain trams and villages. It is a lovely way to travel and you don't have to watch the road.

I think a pass for the two of you. We only stayed 2 nights so we used our Swiss Travel Pass. This is a very lId back, informal train. Never saw anyone checking passes.
