The Old Low Light is a grade II listed building - the oldest building on the Fish Quay in North Shields. We have a heritage gallery, which tells the story of North Shields and hosts changing exhibitions. A café and shop, to relax and chill, and finally a third floor which is available for hire for parties, functions and meetings.

It’s not a big place but really accessible to the whole family, top floor was an art exhibition, middle floor a mixture of history and a great cafe and shop on the ground floor. Really welcoming and helpful.

Good selection on the menu for both food and drink (hot and cold). Service was quick - I work nearby so this is ideal for lunch when you don’t have much time, outdoor area too so perfect for a sunny day. Would highly recommend.

£3 entry. Interesting then and now pictures to get the feel of the area. Really good history of the place which is so changed. Nice coffee shop below with a couple of singer's strumming guitars.

I come from a family of fishermen and I was brought up by the fish quay. This centre is ran by wonderful volunteers who serve and keep the place ticking. They cook delicious home cooked cakes and scones. Which are delightful. All the money made...More

Nice place to call in for a coffee and snack. Visit here quite a lot when in the area. Interesting visitor center also, although when we first visited it was free, I believe there is now a small charge for the visitor center.
