An interesting guided tour with lunch under a tree with fellow travellers. I hadn't realised any baloon tour cannot go over the dunes so was glad I hadn't booked this-although the road/walking tour was varied if tiring in the heat.

Climbing down into the canyon leads one on an unguided (by preference ) walk down the canyon which is 36 meters deep in places. Photographers haven. Be warned it gets very hot so water is a must. Well worth the effort.

Sesriem canyon is off the beaten track compared with the other places but shouldn’t be missed. You can see the canyon from the top or walk down into the canyon. It’s not a hard walk and kids could also do it. See the beauty that has happened over hundreds of years. Words can’t do it justice

From above, Sesriem Canyon is barely visible. You walk down a rather steep approach and drop into the canyon. If you go right, the canyon starts to open up and is lovely in fading light with towering walls and a gradual widening of the valley floor. If you go left, you enter the narrows and arrive quite quickly at a point where the passage is blocked.
