From start to finish, our family surf lesson was a highlight of our Barbados vacation! So much so that we booked a second lesson before we left.
We booked with Paradise Surf School on the first day of our trip. Dane was our instructor and he exceeded all our expectations! He was so patient, skilled, and knowledgeable, making us feel safe and confident as myself (Mom of the family) and my 12 and 13 year old tried surfing for the first time.
The location selected by the school was perfect with gentle waves that were ideal for us beginners and HUGE bonus we saw several sea turtles as we took our lesson. Each of us we're standing up quickly, thanks to the instruction and assistance from Dane.
Not only did he teach us how to surf but also shared interesting details about the local marine life, Barbados and his amazing career as a professional surfer.
I highly recommend Paradise Surf School to anyone looking to learn how to surf in Barbados. They made our experience memorable and fun. We'll definitely be back for more lessons on our next trip. Thank you for such an amazing adventure!
Tips- t
The beach were we went was so lovely!! I would plan on renting chairs and staying a bit after and grabbing lunch at one of the food stands near.
Bring a TON of reef safe mineral sunscreen and don't be shy about putting it on. Especially the backs of your legs. Dane has rash guards but we had our own... but the more coverage the better!
If you have a go pro I would defiantly bring it! You will want to capture the memories.

We were on a cruise that stopped in Barbados. Not only did they get us in the day before but they were willing to pick us up at the cruise port. It was by far the funnest thing we did on the cruise! The instructor was awesome and we felt legit by the time we were finished! I cannot recommend this enough!

Instructors were awesome, friendly and patient. The are we went was just beautiful, tons of turtles. We had 7 in our group, all first timers and they had a blast. The instructors even gave us some information on the Friday Fish Fry in town - great suggestion, tons of fun!

Surf lessons with Bruce Mackie were the highlight of my trip to Barbados. Bruce is an experienced surfer and knows all of the surf spots from beginner to advanced. Even better, he is an awesome instructor and is super friendly. It's easy to see he cares about surfing, he loves the sport, and he wants anyone who takes lessons or tours to enjoy their time to the fullest.
Bruce picked me up at my hotel and we drove to Surfers Point both days. The lessons were the best I've had, Bruce watched everything I was doing and gave me adjustments on the fly. With his tips, I became a lot more confident surfing and was able to start turning. If you are thinking about lessons at any skill level, you should definitely contact Bruce and Paradise Surf School!!

Bruce and his associate, Paul Wilson, taught our 9 year old how to surf. On his first lesson, our son was popping up on the board and riding it all the way into shore. Bruce and his team were so considerate of John, they really boosted his confidence and made him feel great.
We found out later that Bruce has won a number of championships, so his street cred is more than just talk.
Highly recommended!

My friends and I had a 2 hour paddle board lesson with Bruce Mackie last week. We are all absolute beginners and normally not even that keen on being in the sea ...so a little challenging. Thank you Bruce for your patients, instruction and humour. I would strongly recommend a lesson with Paradise Surf School

First time down in Barbados and I got linked up with Paradise Surf School and its owner Bruce Mackie for a combination of a surf lesson for my girlfriend and surf tour for me. Bruce was a great teacher in the water and had my girlfriend catching waves on her own in no time (a feat I had failed at many times). Then Bruce gave me the lay of the land of the different surf breaks on the island and took me to the spot with the best conditions/waves for that day. The experience with Bruce was top notch and I'd recommend to anyone, whether beginner or advanced, that is looking for some good vibes and knowledge of surfing as well as breaks on the island to choose Bruce and Paradise Surf School. And don't forget to try the breadfruit!!

I've never surfed before and Bruce had me up on moving on the first go. Excellent teaching skills and very chill. Made for an extremely enjoyable time. My wife, sister-in-law and myself all recommend getting lessons from Bruce.

Two friends and myself, while vacationing in Barbados (2 first timers including myself) recently took a surf lesson with Bruce and couldn't have been more pleased. We went to this beautiful spot called Freights Bay on the south part of the island and it was one of the most beautiful spots I've seen in the world. Within an hour, I was able to stand up on a board and was instantly hooked to the sport. Bruce, although one of the best surfers on the island, was very patient and helpful with new comers like myself. I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn how to surf while visiting Barbados. Thanks Bruce!! - Brian

Is there an age minimum for the lesson? My 5 year old daughter is very athletic and a great swimmer and she wants to try it.

Ok, so it's not letting me see how much money it cost's. And I would like to know how much a one person beginner lesson cost.
