We went all the way up with our boys (8 and 11) and was a great family experience. Interesting is the few people we saw who was littering was visitors from other countries. We love that you enjoy our country, but please don't litter our beautiful country.

In May 2018 I did the Fish River Canyon hike with Eric from Cape Town Hikes. It was definitely one of the best things I did during my time in Africa and this was largely thanks to Eric. As a solo traveller I was looking for a way to hike the canyon and was very fortunate to find Eric. From when I first emailed him, I got excellent advice on what equipment and food to bring as well as information about the hike itself. He was even able to bring me a little gas stove and a hiking pole for me to use. Everything on the trip was expertly planned out. Eric is very experienced and has a huge wealth of knowledge about the Fish River and hiking in general. He knew the best spots to cross the river and the best places to sleep each night. He was always very patient and made the hike work for everyone in the group. Throughout the trip, he was very friendly and had great stories about the canyon, South Africa and Cape Town. Eric made doing a 5 day wilderness hiking so much easier than it could have been. Everything from start to finish was professional and organised while still being done with a personal touch to suit everybody's needs. I would highly recommend Eric for any kind of hike, whether in Cape Town or elsewhere.

We had the best hike up table mountain on the Indian Venster route with Eric a week ago! Eric is an excellent guide, with a lot of experience! We had so much fun and even managed to get up in only 3 hours! If you're looking for a guide, do get in touch with Eric, I highly recommend him!

Beginner and intermediate trail run from Constantia Nek into Botanical Garden Kirstenbosch.. The aoromatic smell of fynbos after the rain was intoxicating. We walked from cliff edges to forests and open paths with bikers and hikers alike. The route is populated by both young and old because various options are open to the avid hiker. For the more experienced , slipping of the bike trail into a steep climb of stairs is rewarded with stunning views as far as Muizenberg coastline and decending into the most beautiful botanical gardens hugged by a maintain range .

Hiking up Lion’s Head was one of the first things I did in South Africa, and boy what a great experience it was. This was largely due to Eric, who is a bona fide professional. The timing for a private tour is very flexible, and I chose to start at 4am so that I could take some sunrise videos. Hiking up Lion’s Head is arduous right off the bat: the steep incline killed me five minutes in. But Eric was ever patient, and he gave me all the time in the world to rest and recover. He was also very friendly, regaling me with stories about Cape Town and the different mountains in view, in particular Table Mountain. You can tell he is a very knowledgeable and experienced guide, and hiking is his passion. He even helped me carry my drone backpack and my camera equipment as well. If not for his help I’d never be able to take some precious sunrise videos! Later I was supposed to go up Table Mountain via cable car, but the queue was two hours long, and Eric suggested that he’d go queue on my behalf. However, I didn’t want to wait. And so, he drove me around Cape Town, first to Signal Hill, and then to all the other landmarks. That was certainly way more fun than waiting in line and in the hot sun. Later, he gave me a discount for the missed chance to go up Table Mountain. I cannot wait to go back to Cape Town, and this time hike Table Mountain with him! Go with Eric - you'll be in good hands!
