A walking route can be taken through the centre of Reus following the modernist buildings of the city. Throughout this tour, we can admire 26 Modernist buildings and in all of them there is an explanatory plaque on the floor with the name of the architect and its date of construction. The route can be started in the Mercadal square and among the most representative works are those of Lluís Domènech Montaner such as the Institut Pere Mata, Casa Navàs, Casa Rull and Casa Gasull. Other modernist works such as the Wine Station, Casa Bartolí, Casa Munné or Casa Tarrats are also surprising.

Using the map we picked up at the Gaudi Center (free), we took a city walk around the theme of Modernista architecture. So look up a lot. We did the part in the center and saw about 15 facades. Recommended.

Reus has a wealth of Modernist buildings. It seems not many of them are open to the public and maybe the original interiors haven't survived. The town has produced a map and list of the buildings and there are two excellent books but it would have been nice to have had a pocket guide to the buildings to use as you are walking around

I was fortunate that a friend took me to Reus, which has a great deal to offer to the tourist interested in architecture. The Gaudi center is a pleasant surprise, and strolling the Ruta is easy and interesting, especially as a warm up for Barcelona. Works of Puig are common here. A bonus is that you will encounter few tourists!

Reus completely surpassed our expectations when it comes to architecture - it's a temple of Art Nouveau and a great reminder of this period through all of the beautiful buildings on this route.

You have to walk the route, at least a part of it and it will impress you. However, it lacks tourist support. Most of the buildings have very little information or even none and it's not clear how to follow the route unless you have a map (you can find one at the Gaudi Center for free). There should be some map of the route which can be imported in Google Maps, since people are not really using paper maps anymore. Also, what is sad is that some of the old buildings (many of them on the Modernisme Route, but not modernist houses themselves) are not renovated, but left in a state of decay.

Anyway, a great walk through an important period for Catalan (and European) architecture.

Interesting stroll in Reus, hunting for beautiful buildings. A lot of Art Nouveau houses scattered throughout the town.

I live in Reus and visited the Institute Pere Mata in a theatralized visit, where it is explained all the history of this modernist psiquiatric. It is interesting from the arquitechture point of view as well from the design of a new conception of the treatment of mentally ill people.

This is a great way to discover the history of Reus which relates so much to the history of Catalunya and Barcelona in pariticular with the presence of Gaudi and Domenech.

One can be started in Mercadal Sqyare with Casa Navàs, one of the most singular and good buildings made by the advanced Domènech i Montaner. There is also north out of the town a psiquiatric institution called Institut Pere Mata, one of the more advanced psyquitric centers, build in 1905 by Domènech i Muntaner, too. The Pavelló dels distinguits, now out of medical use, requieres a careful visit. It's spectacular! and many other lither others...
