"Church mountain" is a lone rock outcrop right by the ocean making for great pictures. There were horses grazing on the mountain and, surprisingly, sheep grazing on the seaweed on the beach. Worth a stop.

We didn't see anyone climbing. I read that you need to hire guides. There are plenty of other beautiful places to hike!

"If "the town" is Grundarfjörður, then absolutely!" This would be my answer too. We stayed at the Framnes Hotel, a short walking distance from the mountain. Hope my information was helpfull. David

I drove in a Golf, lol :) Pretty much everywhere on the coast. Take your time and explore!
