The stay was horrible food was bad service was terrible no WiFi rooms were bad had horrible smell like no one stayed there in along time. The reception wasn’t helpful. We arrived at night checked out the next morning. Do not pay for full stay just stay for a night and see if you like it they do not refund your money. Not worth it. DONT LET THE PICTURES FOOL YOU.

One of the best beaches I know of in Zanzibar. Considering the hotels have been closed for 3 months due to the pandemic, very little rubbish around. And...you can swim in the sea pretty much all the time.

There was nothing to like here. Poor quality, staff that were not friendly. In the end we were lied to by the staff and asked to pay for additional charges.
Food was pathetic. Place was rundown. Totally differently to picture on website. The beach was excellent and the only good thing about this place. We were advised not to drink tap water only bottled water. However the ice cubes were made with tap water and the bottled water we collected at reception were filled with tap water.

Overall, this resort is fine. The swimming pools are clean and warm; the rooms are clean and well air-conditioned; and the ocean water is spectacularly warm. The buffet food was plentiful but the quality was just OK - it filled us but there wasn't a single dish that I LOVED.

The add-on all day snorkling expedition is lovely. Talk to Slim in the Expeditions room.

Downsides:

*Wifi is available only in the common areas, not in the rooms themselves. But here's a HOT TIP: buy a Tanzanian SIM with a data package (about $13 per week) from Slim in Expeditions, put it in your phone, convert your phone to a WiFi hot spot, and voila- in room Internet.

Uroa Bay also has some weird rules that make the stay less convenient than it might be. For example:

* You aren't allowed to take food from the restaurants to your room. And there's no room service.

* On arrival, we wanted to upgrade from breakfast-only to full board for just the first day, until we had a little time to figure out whether we'd be at the hotel all day every day. But no - they wouldn't let us upgrade for just ONE DAY - we had to choose on arrival whether to upgrade for the entire stay or not upgrade at all. When we asked the manager why, she just repeated over and over again "That's our rule." Sorry, but that single ridiculous opening encounter with the manager lost Uroa Bay one point fron my rating.

Another downside: the proper amount for a bellboy tip in Tanzania is between 1K and 2K Tanzanian shillings. But the hotel cashier doesn't carry small bills! I tried on three different days to exchange 20K shilling notes for 1's, 2's, or 5's, and they could never do it. If you want to tip the staff for minor favors rendered, don't expect the resort to help you with the change you need. Arrive at the resort with plenty of 1K and 2K TZ shilling notes.

Overall, a nice resort with too many weird rules and inconveniences. I won't be staying there again.

1. Spice Tour, very interesting and educational.
Stone town , and the museums and the Anglican church ,
Very sad to see where the slaves were kept .
A walk through the spice markets , best to but all your spices there.
Sunset cruise amazing.
Combine at least 3 tours in one.it works out much cheaper.
Blue Safari a must, includes island tour, blue lagoon, and a delicious seafood lunch lobster, prawns, chicken and much more with entertainment .
Make sure you have shilling with in order to tip for all your entertainment .and tours.
For a more vibey beach , the North Beach is highly recommended.

I really like this beach, it's wilder than places like Kendwa or Nungwi and doesn't have as many hotels so it feels more isolated. We never had any hassle from beach boys and could just walk for miles.

We are going to Mermaids Cove in Uroa Bay early 2019
Are there massages for women, by men in the area?
On the beach or in massage parlours?
If so, where and what is the price?

Sad to se that people who live around the beach don't seem to understand that the cleanliness of the beach is necessary for the whole community. There are broken glass, broken plates, old clothes and so on. The hotel owners around Uroa should go together and engage the locals - everyone would benefit from a clean beach!
