White Shark Ventures invites you cage diving with great white sharks in the aptly named "Shark Alley", near the fishing village of Gansbaai, South Africa. Due to various geographical reasons, water temperatures and easy access to food, this area has earned worldwide fame and recognition as the single most successful area to view the great white shark within a very shot period of time. In successful operation for 23 years, and established in 1992, White Shark Ventures were the founders and pioneers of shark cage diving in Gansbaai. Our tours are not only highly educational, but we also actively participate in documenting valuable research information on great white sharks, which is forwarded to Marine & Coastal Management Research and various Marine Biologists world-wide. Our directors and employees are passionate about conservation and rehabilitation of all wildlife species, more which can be seen on our website. Our company were the founders of the Great White Shark Protection Foundation, a body dedicated to the protection and preservation of the great white shark globally. Our tour includes; Luxurious return road transfers from Cape Town; Light breakfast and hot beverages offered upon arrival in Gansbaai; Snacks and drinks on-board; Educational information and safety briefing; Diving equipment and wet-suits available at no additional cost; Assisted cage diving for divers and snorkelers; Spectacular surface viewing for non divers; Hot lunch, beer and wine served upon return to shore; Stop over for land based whale watching in Hermanus (only when whales are spotted) Drop-off at Cape Town International Airport at no additional cost. (Upon request).

There are a number of things I wish i'd understood before booking this trip (which my son was particularly keen to do). Fortunately we were visiting from relatively nearby Hermanus compared to some others apparently visiting from Cape Town. 1. It is pretty expensive, we...More

Even though the sharks were shy and we didn't see one at our boat, the experience and the "waiting" game was exciting. The seals gave us a great show when we passed their island. They seem to love the attention. The staff all round was...More

We were exciting such as we were a little bit scared to meet the great white shark. I've been diving for several years and it was for me close to an obligation to observe the "king" of the ocean. And we did it with our...More

While I appreciate that the sharks are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed, it's difficult not to be disappointed when a boat a hundred metres away is having a number of shark encounters as opposed to our single sighting. We could clearly see the...More

We started our late morning / afternoon tour by getting on the boat and driving towards the cage which is the only cage that doesn't hurt the sharks. Immediately they started chumming the water and within minutes two large sharks had come up towards the...More

The upside is that we saw quite a few sharks up close from the deck on the afternoon that we took the excursion. The cage itself is poorly designed with nothing to really hold yourself in place with and the floor of the cage is...More

They try to fit too many people in the boat, you get to spend just a few minutes in the cage (if there is any sharks nearby at all) and people struggle to change clothes because of the lack of space. This makes them look...More

did not use SCUBA because the visibility at the time of year we were there was only about 10-15ft and it was explained to us that the scuba bubbles tend to make the sharks really wary so they will not come in close to find... More
