The sculpture, situated in front of the SPA Hotel Meri was created in 2002 by a renowned Estonian sculptor Tauno Kangro. The sculpture depicts Suur Toll (the Great Toll), a mythical hero of the island Saaremaa, and his wife Piret.Good to know:According to the Legend, Sorve peninsula was important to Toll, as from there he reached the shortest way to the island Ruhnu, where he had his cabbage field. When his wife Piret started to make a fire under the cauldron, then Toll went through the sea to his cabbage field and came back in half an hour, so that he could hand Piret the cabbages when the water had just started to boil.

A fascinating sculpture that can be seen on the promenade when walking towards the harbour. Would recommend anyone who is in Kuressaare to have a look!

If you are walking or biking around Kuressaare this is a nice place to walk by. And its a good place for a fun picture with a monument/statue. Its really not that important or worth going out of the way for.

This is an interesting bronze statue of two heroes of Estonian mythology. It is free to visit and it is located at a nice place of Kuressaare by the sea.

At the beach. A must seen these two legendary giants. Full of power in these naturalist sculptures, carrying their catch of the day.. search the three fishes that had fallen off..

To be noted, the full view of the sight has basically been covered by the photo attached below, a couple carrying a boat of fishes -- so this may not take you too much time to explore except for a few lines on the info...More

I'd say it's a must. Especially if you are sculpture hunter. I'm tired of classic monuments of ''used to be important'' people, so I always enjoy when imagination presents you random monuments.

Look like the woman came to take some fishes from a fisherman. There is this kind of monuments and traditions in many countries, nothing special but if you will be in Kuressaare must see.

just in front of the SPA hotel Meri, and behind the Kuressaare Episcopic Castle. Small Yacht Port is just a little walk further.
