Lighthouse on a mountain of the town of Brunate. Once you get off the funicular, go to the chiessa (church) and follow the signs to the lighthouse. Walking with 2 kids (9 and 6 years old) took us 30 minutes. It is a steep climb...More

We've enjoyed our stay at the lighthouse, the panoramic views of lake Como are amazing. The trip up is not so bad, we've managed to do it with a pram by following the public road, although it did take a bit longer than the footpath

It's about 1.2 miles with 666 elevation from the tram. Worth the hike, you see beautiful homes and gardens. Great views of lake and town of Como below you. Don't want to him, hire a local to take you there and walk back.

A nice digestive upward walk (rather steep at times) took us up to this intriguingly named monument on top of a hill. It was treacherously icy, cold and grey when we climbed up the Faro so our experience was heavily influenced by the weather, but...More

We drove from Como to Brunate. The road is narrow and full of close turns. You have to pay attention. Nevertheless, i enjoyed the road trip a lot. Even though that we drove all the way up the Faro Voltiano, i would suggest to park...More

Amazing viewpoint from here but make sure you go on a clear day. We hiked up which took a good half hour and is very steep and tiring. However there is a little old army vehicle that you can take a ride up for €2.50...More

The activity I enjoyed the most during my stay in Como was the drive by the Funicolare up to Brunate, then the approximately 30 minutes walk further up to San Maurizio and finally the 143 steps up inside the spiral staircase to the top of...More

We got off the shuttle thinking we were at the highest point above Brunate then noticed the stairs and the tower. Unfortunately, we got to the top at 6:55pm just as the attendant was closing! We were not allowed to climb up the additional 40...More

You may think that after having walked 30-odd minutes from the funicular to the lighthouse that those final few steps up the lighthouse is asking just too much of your physical stamina. There are about 145 steps for those who like facts and figures and...More
