This old abbey sits at the bottom of Kong high street. It's quite small but set near the pretty river and woods which you can walk .the new modern church is a bit odd in design and looks totally out of place against the Abbey...More

This is a nice ruin that is right next to the local church. We were there on a Sunday morning and as the weather was nice, the door to the church must have been open because we heard the choir singing during mass. I have...More

The old abbey ruins are on an extensive site, close to Loch Corrib and Ashford Castle in Cong. A very picturesque and peaceful setting with the grounds and surrounding area being very well tended.

I was here two years ago on my last visit to Cong and wandered around the Abbey and adjacent grounds for 30 minutes or so. Interesting site to visit. There are signs up explaining different points.

When we first came across this building we weren't sure what it was, there is no signage to tell you anything. In nice condition, easy access; but they are using a portion of the interior as a storage unit, kinda takes away from the feel....More

Worth a look around as it is free and there is a nice peaceful riverside walk nearby. There are also public toilets near and a few places to eat.

There's little information on site unfortunately but the grandeur and charm of these ancient stones show the significance of the religious community in this beautiful valley. A tranquil spot to visit
