Took a walk along the canal to the locks which I found fascinating. We were lucky enough to see 2 canal boats climbing the stairs wonderful and well worth a visit.

Good place to break a journey and visit the triple locks with an excellent ice cream cone. Would have liked to have wandered along the tow path and seen a barge traverse the locks but that will have to be for another trip.

We parked in Whitchurch, only 50p for 4 hour long stay and walked along the Shropshire Union Canal. Very pleasant tow path all along and peaceful apart from passing narrow boats. No hills to negotiate and there are benches to stop and have a picnic.

You can enjoy a peaceful walk along the canal and be entertained by the boats tackling the staircase of locks in a pretty location. Lovely café right by them if you fancy a bite and/or a drink.

A very good spot to stop and watch the canal boats work their way through the locks. The Lockside café is nearby if you want a drink or snack. Good place.

My husband and I often walk our dogs down the tow path from Whitchurch to Grindley Brook Locks. It is always good to see the boats queuing up to enter the locks and see them rising and falling as the water level changes. The cafe...More

We've taken a large pram up past it and have eaten in the cafe outside.
