There have been Roman Catholic churches near this site on the banks of the river since 1711, the current (fourth) Cathedral was built in 1906-09 in a gothic style. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is the largest Christian church in Thailand. It was built...More

With its numerous Chinese temples, French churches and bustling gem market, Chanthaburi is anything but a typical Thai town. Close to the border with Cambodia, Chantahburi is a Thai city where the influence of Indochina is felt. Lingering around in its old wooden shophouses, since...More

Build mainly by a Vietnamese Catholic community who settle there over a hundred years ago… it's kind of 'grand' for Thailand… Built in the midst of the community near the river, in a very lively neighbourhood… A must visit anyway, as well a short distance...More

A must of Chanthaburi sightseeing, along with the Church's vicinity - gem street and interesting "bolane = traditional" architecture scattered along the river. Unfortunately my tablet's battery went out before my having taken enough photos of the town, which however makes me wanna go back...More

Nice looking catholic church, built more than hundred years ago by French missionaries. Supposedly the biggest of its kind all over Thailand. Didn’t go inside, since it was closed. Often used as main landmark of the city of Chanthaburi.

I was able to see the outside and it was gorgeous. I got there at 6pm Sunday but unfortunately it was close. There's a chapel on the side where I was able to say my thanks to God. Definitely a must see.

This one is special because it is the biggest cathedral in Thailand in a mostly Buddhist country. And another aspect is the rather shiny statue of Maria, bedazzled with countless gems.

The church is an architectural wonder and the grandeur of its construction and interior mesmerizes any visitor. Given the increasing number of tourists swarming the place, i hope the church management ensures that peace and quietness and respect is absolutely maintained. Especially non-Christians should be...More

I’ve been checking on places to visit here in Chanthaburi and the Mary Immaculate Conception Cathedral came out on top of the list. It took for about 3 hours drive from Pattaya to reach the Cathedral. Parking is not a problem at all as they...More

I have visited this place. It is worth a visit. Sometimes the doors are closed, so you can only see the outside of the building. Make sure you wait until they open the doors, so you also can see the inside of the church. You...More
