Absolutely shocked. Arrived 4 minutes late (due to cows on the route) Karl had told us the horses were packed away already (he was probably the rudest man I have ever met).
I had personally organised an outride for a soon to be married couple as their wedding gift and he completely destroyed a possibly great experience. (Organized months in advance as well.)
I feel so sorry for this man, to be that petty you have to lead a very sad life.
Good luck I really hope you find peace.

We had a group of 6 guys that booked the 2 hour ride. Had an amazing experience. Horses were well behaved and well looked after. Guide was knowledgeable and accommodating. Karl was a great sport. He paired the horses to the riders perfectly. And he’s a very funny guy. We had a lot of fun with him before and after the trip. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area wanting to try horse riding.

We all had a really wonderful time. It was really easy to book and schedule our trip. The horses were so beautiful and majestic. The trails were absolutely breathtaking. For our first time in horses we were all able to ride quiet easily. We have been raving about it to everyone at our resort. Thanks Karl and team. Karamba!

We had a blast of a time. The horses was well looked after. Well groomed and trained. We had the best guide, he answered all our questions. He treated the horses with the utmost respect. This is a must if you visit the drakenbergs. Thank you oom Karl

We took my daughter to Ushaka horse trails and we had an amazing experience! She had a short ride and loved every second. The horses are gentle, the scenery is beautiful and she learnt a lot about horses and riding in the process. I would highly recommend it.

My friend and myself (both experienced riders) had a very enjoyable 2 hours out with Nathi (the leader) and Anita (volunteer worker also an experienced rider). Sometimes you are not matched with the right horses when you can ride but we were and although I chose to stay with the American saddle (I wish I hadn't!). We rode out to the dam - sadly lacking in water - and back round the farm fields - ending with a canter/gallop round a field. Only mistake (ours) we didnt take any water with us - it was a hot day.

My wife and I (we have our own horses in France) took a 2 hour ride at a reasonable price from the Bergvlei farm. Our guide was knowledgeable, safety conscious and friendly. The scenery was stunning with the ride crossing wide open spaces surrounded by the central Drakensburg mountains and offering hilltop views of the Bell Park Dam.
The snag with the experience was the apparent poor health of the horses. Both horses were a little under weight - despite the plentiful grass. My horse began breathing very heavily at the first incline and it was quickly obvious that neither were strong enough to enjoy anything other than a slow walk.
The farm appeared to have many horses and it may be that others are in better condition, but having stressed that were both experienced it would be curious for the operators to have chosen their weakest.

This place was awesome...really well balanced between a challenging and interesting ride, and a good level of safety and care selecting the right horse for your level. We are both reasonable riders though i am a little nervous so we did a half day ride, and Karl selected a horse for me that wasnt too flighty or inclined to racing! We did a circular route which involved going up some steep mountain paths and across a couple of rivers, the views were great, we went through a small village and got plenty of good trots and canters in. The horses are pretty sure footed trail horses but well trained and dont just follow the one in front, which makes for much more interesting riding. Really recommend. They also take beginners and am sure would put together a suitable level of ride. Go early as it gets pretty hot middle of the day and there isnt much shade on the ride.

My daughter insisted that we go horse-riding... it wasn't something that I had done before, so we all gave it a go! The ride was peaceful and the surroundings beautiful. I will admit to having a sore behind for the next 2 days, but it was totally worth it!

Hi Paul, did you ever find out what the reason for the under weight was? We want to do a horse trail, but will not support a business that does not look after their animals.]
Kind regards,
