Local information and history covered...

Easy to find and parking outside next to the school.
Security on view, its good to donate to cover a small suggested fee, two floors of history to explore.
Friendly volunteer, interesting place and visit the garden area which houses a few gems especially the old vehicle.

What a little gem in the heart of Winterton. We really enjoyed our stroll around this quaint little museum, packed with local history and more. Do yourself a favour and pay a visit

Poor
Apr 2019 • Couples
The museum has a lot of history but lacks teh local people's history. That history just has one or two pages which does not do justice to the people of the region. This is more of a war museum then historical.

The items and articles are really informative but the staff on site is not not engaging at all. I wish that they would get information and items from the surrounding tribes and people.

Some of the items from the outside exhibits are in desperate need of repair

We love to stop all over when traveling on vacation.
I always Google for things to do in every town that we drive through.
The museum was an interesting stop for the day.

Very disappointed
Dec 2018 • Family
Twice we have come to Winterton in peak season of December usually 21st (ish) to New Year's and the information office and the museum is closed. As overseas visitors this is very disappointing and frustrating as we would love to find out what there is to to and places to see but have to find these things out second hand or via the parks board office. Surely there is someone in Winterton or on the local council that could insure that tourists are catered for. We bring lots if money into the area and feel let down. Not what we would have expected from the new South Africa, you've had 20 years to get this right.

Not a planned stop-Drove by my accident-
We loved it, relating history to our 7 yr old.
Curator was very friendly and accommodating.
Our son loved seeing all the history and we were able to show him all relevant info
before making our way to Spioenskop.
The old Camper van was a rarity not often found. Wish I had one of my own!

Lovely little museum
Sep 2018 • Couples
This small museum offers some really interesting information on the Boer/English wars. It also offers a great history of Winterton - some of the early settlers and their history. Outside there are ancient farm implements and a fascinating old caravan made out of wood. Although small, for a donation of R10 only, it was a lovely visit.

Great Photographs

This is not a large museum but is well worth an hour of anyone's time. The exhibits are interesting but I particularly enjoyed the photographs. The Boer War ones are especially good.

Great place for information

The exhibits are worth seeing but the information about the surrounding area and where to find guides/ cost was invaluable. Ezekiel was so helpful in making phone calls and arranging our tours. A real find
