About
A pet friendly clay café situated in the foothills of the Drakensberg. Roots offers a unique space where you can browse through our gift shop, thrift shop or enjoy healthy eats. We pride ourselves with our freshly pressed juices, healthy smoothies and award winning coffee. The perfect spot for family bonding time, date or birthday celebrations. For the little ones we have an outdoor play area and also their own mini kiddies menu. Come and select from a variety of ceramics to paint and tap into your creativity.

A wonderfully warm and welcoming place! If you’re looking for excellent coffee, the friendliest staff, and a beautiful interior this is it! The clay painting is an excellent activity for the whole family, as well as the safe outdoor kids play area. Whether you’re visiting with friends, or working along, Roots is a home-away-from-home and gives you all the country feelings that this special town has to offer. A firm favourite is their best breakfast wrap! 😍 well done to the Roots team

This place is absolutely lovely!😊 We have been there 3 times now this year as a stopover lunch /breakfast nook and we will definitely keep coming back. General feel is warm and the staff are super friendly and so welcoming. Fireplace is an amazing cosy touch in winter! Whether you want to snuggle on a couch sipping a cappacino, or sit and have a meal, definitely worth a stop. Though their menu is small, everything is delicious and their health options are great. We especially enjoyed their smoothies 😊additionally, they have some lovely leather bags, a small thrift shop and a few other things to browse through between bites. We haven't yet had a chance to do the pottery painting thing yet, but are super keen to do this when we have a bit more of a longer stay in the area! Definitely recommend!
