I recently spent three days and two nights at GG Conservation at the Lion House. To say it was amazing would be an understatement. To start with the house was beautiful and cozy. There was a fireplace inside and outside, the bedrooms were extremely comfortable and each bedroom had its own bathroom, a kitchen, and an outdoor sitting/braii area. As soon as you step outside you can see lions all around you and to hear them roar at night was fantastic.
I chose to do the photography cage experience where you are in a photography box with lions right outside. Of course you can never be sure the lions will come up to the box but I lucked out and had three right outside. I was able to see these beautiful animals up close and get great pictures.
All of the people working at GG Conservation were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate me during my stay.
I highly recommend visiting if you love animals, especially lions. The lions are all very healthy and obviously well cared for. There is no breeding, no interaction, and no affiliation with canned lion hunting. Everyone here loves these animals and only wants what is best for them.

We travelled as a group to experience the amazing lion house. Suzi was a wonderful host and showed us all the lions in a fantastic perimeter walk. We then did the lion cage which is a unique and wonderful experience,i Would highly recommend a visit here for an unbelievable experience

What an experience. The roaring of the Lions - best surround sound system in the world!!! Nice accommodation. This is not a 5 star hotel, as the experience will be lost in technology if it was. You will find bugs and insects. Always enough wood and assistance. Communication and feed back from Suzzanne were great. I've read a review about lions being stressed and sedated and futher bad experiences... could not find any of those claims to be true! The human cage is a must. Put it on your bucket list and make sure it gets ticked.

We stayed at GG Conservation for two nights and had an amazing time. First of all, the accommodation (Lion House) was beautiful, the beds were super comfy, each room had its own bathroom and of course you stepped outside and there are lions surrounding you just 10 meters away from you.
We also went for the Lion cage experience and it was absolutely incredible and hard to put into words. Of course you cannot guarantee the lions will be interested in the cage but they came over for a short while and we managed to get some great photos.
Also: the lions are in wonderful condition, there is no breeding going on and you don‘t have to be afraid of any activity linked to canned hunting. Anyone we met at the project was 100% there for the animals and loves them unconditionally.

Amazing experience. Highly recommend you take advantage of the opportunity to visit GG Conservation. The lions are majestic. We were fortunate enough to meet and spend time with Patrick, the owner and Zelda. They were such a breath of funny fresh air. The lions did not disappoint! Lion house was stunning. Charming and clean! The back porch was an oasis of lion chats, bird chirps and toads singing. If you have an opportunity to participate in feeding the lions- take it!!!! Can’t say enough positive things. Loved our experience!

Our stay at GG was the most incredible break away we had ever had, yes you are up close and personal with the Lions surrounding you, there are fences up everywhere, it is NOT dangerous in Africa, especially at GG, I personally think it is the safest place to be in Africa. And the house we stayed in had everything you need and more, nice fireplace inside and big braai aria outside, all and all the best place to visit for a vacation and the staff is super amazing, we did Lion Feeding that was amazingly super to see and experience this, we also did the Lion Cage, oh wow a we were in awe being locked up in a cage with lions outside the cage, it was frightening but also amazing to be so close to the Lions, thank you Pat and Suzan for being the best at what you done for your kind hospitality and all the cool information about GG. We will be back that's for sure.

It was supposed to be a celebration of mum 80 birthday. The accommodation wasn’t cleaned. The towels was disgusting, the pillows was stained, no protective covers on it. the dining table cloth was dirty, dirty kettle couldn’t even make mum a cuppa kitchen was left with dirty dishes and dustbin not to mention a raw chicken that was left in oven for months unnoticed 😳😭the swimming pool wasn’t clean and the experience with the lions ( the box) as promoted on FB never happened as it was broken… apparently they weren’t aware of our visit but they took the booking payment 😳 we’ve travelled all the way from NZ I guess next time I will definitely spend my money elsewhere! Disappointed!!

One of the most special places we have ever been. The lions roaring at night is indescribable amazing. The Lion House has everything you need. You can walk around and see the lions up close. Our neighbour and his 2 ladies were running around and chasing each other. The lions look like they have a good life and get all the need. This is definitely a good stop over for 2 or 3 days.

Spending time here was an absolute joy. The lions are so well cared for and loved and the entire experience was fantastic from start to finish.
Suzanne and Pat were excellent guides and all the staff clearly care a great deal for what they do.

Hello! I was wondering how to get to the conservation. Have people driven from Johannesburg? If so was it an easy drive/was it easy to find? Thank you in advance.

Hello, We drove from Johannesburg and other than adjusting to driving on the left side of the road it was a fairly easy drive with GPS. It took about 3-3.5 hrs from the airport and is mostly 2-3 lane highway. The property entrance is somewhat hidden and you have to call when you get to the first set of gates, but not difficult to locate overall.

Hello. This all sounds wonderful and I am very keen to go. Quick question, just checking there is no physical interaction, no cub petting and no other harmful experiences for the Lions. This does seem very ethical and responsible but i noticed one review (not on TripAdvisor) when i was scrolling internet that was not as positive so want to be 100% sure as the animal's welfare is most important thing to me. Cheers!! 😁

We are a no breeding, no cub petting, no interaction & non profit lion sanctuary. That article is extremely upsetting to us as it is completely inaccurate and unfounded.
But we cannot stop or control something being written even if it’s totally wrong. Please visit our website to book accomodation here. Thank you.

I would want to know if having donated it eta possible to have a photo with a lion because for me his would be a magnificent present.
