I wish it was but more maintained but very good. They have a lot of antiques there. Worth visiting if you are in Kabul. There is entry fees. You will have to pay for your mobile phone to take it in.

So sad

Forlorn and amidst overgrown gardens , the museum just seems so unloved. Not much to see as the museum is preparing to move (?) to the Durlaman opposite when renovations are completed. I really hope that they manage to get it going again with all the exhibits

Without doubt, Kabul National Museum has the most impressive buddhist pieces. The Bacteria treasure was on its world tour when I visited the Museum, but two very interesting exhibition on Mes-Aynak & Afghanistan chronological history were on show. Both made me so impressed.

Worth a trip!

Everything I read made me think this would not be worth my time, but it is! There are still many exhibits to see! A great collection of coins, ethnic outfits and jewelry as well and a niche of the original mosque of the site.

A fascinating insight into a fascinating country

Kabul is not an easy place to be in and even harder when it comes to getting to know the country/city as an expat - especially with all the security that comes with it. However, the museum really is a must see in Kabul and if I only see this one place then I will depart happy. There are a number of exhibits to get an understanding of some of the history of this country - especially its pre Muslim past.

Though smller than most museums this is quite sufficiently informative of the rather volatile and sad history of Afghanistan.

I have been to Kabul Museum few many times, with local friends and few of foreign tourist whom I meet through couchsurfing. Kabul National Museum is very claim and quite place, not much rush, there are a lot of historic artifacts and rich Afghan cultural artifacts. The area where Museum is located is charming place, its in vicinity of 100 years old palace and new parliament.
