I came across this mosque by chance and was left speechless by its beauty. The architecture, the surroundings - it is almost not possible to describe the effect this had in capturing the essence of Kurdistani Iraq.
Hidden in plain sight for all to behold, a must see, please.

I was casually strolling in the streets of Pizishkan (defo my fav neighbourhood in Erbil) and this mosque caught my attention, with its architectural blend of tradition and modernity. Before I knew it, I entered the mosque - woman, don't forget your headscarf! ;)
What to say, I have been living in the Middle East for 6 years, rarely did I see a mosque like this. Unique.

The most beautiful mosque in the Middle East, and arguably the most beautiful in the world except for the Baitul Mukarram Jame Masjid in Sheffield. Avoid the tourist crowds at the other Erbil mosques and come here.

Little did I expect to find a mosque of this quality in an unremarkable little suburb of Erbil - truly a gem of Iraqi religious architecture. It goes to show that not all the world's remarkable built heritage is from the distant past.

I enjoyed my visit at this mosque. It is a mosque so you know what to expect. As good as other mosques, better than some. Maybe the best in Erbil.
