De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre Private Safari (Private)

he Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre is a magical place where conservation and education is their motto. It was established in 1971, like a cheetah conservation project and is a short 2-hour scenic drive through the Magaliesburg mountains. Highlights you can look forward to seeing, are the beautiful markings and patterns of the cheetah and wild dog up close. You may even be lucky to get a photo with one of the cheetah.

The center also serves as a platform to educate the public not only on cheetah and wild dog conservation but also on the treatment and respect of domestic animals. Through their NPO (the non-profit organization), CHEETA, people are taught to use domestic animals such as Anatolian dogs to protect livestock from predators and predators from harm.

The center’s outreach is far and wide and their passion for wildlife and conservation is immeasurable. A visit to this center will leave you feeling enriched and inspired.

6 of us cycled from Zebula on a hot midday for an ice cold beer. Honey lager as refreshingly ever. Pizzas cooked in a wood fired oven. Delicious

Wonderfully simple and wholesome. Pity the national (dirt) road to this little gem is so poorly maintained, it is ruff if you drive a city Sedan. If your vehicle can handle unkept dirt roads, or you don't mind taking it slow on the 7km of bad dirt - you will probably be the kind of person who will enjoy L'abri. We did.

Off the beaten track, hidden and not much too look at. L'abri is a great spot to visit. We happened to drive past, make a u-turn and go back up the same road thinking this place does not exist, to our rescue a friendly lady popped out of nowhere to tell us that we at the right place. we walked into an overly decorated quaint padstal (farm stall) where we were welcomed by the owner and her friendly pets. We were then taken into a super antique old school type of bar/pub where we tried 3 different craft beers all locally brewed on this farm (Blonde ale, Caramel flavoured and honey flavoured beers). We also ordered 2 rustic and tasty pizzas that we enjoyed. Highly recommended and we advise fellow visitors to not judge a book by it's cover.

More rustic than I expected but full of character and charm. The pizzas were fantastic and made with love. Only pizzas & focaccias are available on the menu. Lots of wine options (by the bottle) and blonde craft beer was delicious. If you are a dog lover, this place is for you...there are plenty of friendly pups.
