We came twice in our trip to the eastern cape. It was a lovely atmosphere with good beer. The staff were friendly, the manager was present and we had the best grilled fish

We did a great 11 km hike on the farm followed by a excellent lunch with some great Craft Beer. The vistas from the hiking trail towards the sea is absolutely stunning. We will be back soon.

Stopped for lunch on our way to a wedding. The food, mussels and prawns were outstanding! I joked that the mussels were straight out of the sea. The golden ale speaks for itself. Pensioners get a 20% discount on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Always a place to relax and enjoy a good meal. Their Chicken Schnitzel highly recommended as is made by their Austrian Chef and part Owner, Petra. Chris, Erica and staff are friendly and efficient. Their home brew Iced Teas are a must and I hear their Brewed Beer excellent.

Emerald Vale is on a farm, its rustic in a beautiful countryside setting typical of that part of the Eastern Cape. The food and service is very good and I appreciate the mainĺy Xhosa staff because I grew up with The Xhosas and speak their language. The Gin & Tonic is devine. What more do you need?

Brilliant beer. Lovely friendly owner (Chris). Happy days in the middle of nowhere. We were two Irish guys driving the coast, came across the brewery like an oasis, had a super afternoon. Food’s great, staff are lovely and the ales are better than anything that the awful SAB empire manages to churn out in hectogallons. Highly recommended and looking forward to going back.

What an amazing place, with fantastic beer and awesome food.
From turf to surf as well as pizzas
Service is great and the food is fresh and worth the wait as it's prepared fresh every day.

Great venue, good food and beer, and the best people! :)

While staying a few days at buccaneers backpackers, we decided to pop in at Emerald Vale Brewery for the afternoon as my partner is an avid beer drinker and homebrewer... (One of our family members started their day at Emerald Vale with a trail run which he also highly recommends!)

We returned later on for lunch and then an impromptu brewery tour led by brewer Chris who was happy to answer all 10000 of our questions :)
We had the burgers for lunch and the tasting boards to try their beers which were all great. The venue is family friendly and relaxed, with the live music by Liam Culbert an added bonus this afternoon! It was overall a great experience and we highly recommend Emerald Vale Brewery as a stop.

We were staying at a local backpackers - the Buccaneers (another awesome spot) when we discovered Emerald Vale.

The Buccaneers bar was fully stocked with some delicious beers from a brewery - Emerald Vale - that we’d yet to see in our travels. After a couple days of drinking copious amounts, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the brewery was a local one - only 10ish minutes away.

What a spot! Located on a functioning farm, the brewery’s perched up on a grassy hill and surrounded by pastures and bubbling streams - hard to imagine a more idyllic place to hang out and drink beers. Taking full advantage of this gorgeous scenery, Emerald Vale has a bunch of open-air picnic tables under the shade of a large awning, which definitely helps with staying cool in the middle of a South African summer.

For the next couple hours, we sampled the different Emerald Vale beers, chatted, and worked through some absolutely massive - and delicious! - snacks. Yep, we quickly discovered that the kitchen is just as incredible as the brewery itself.

Highly recommended if you're in the area!

Treatment by staff outstanding and the food makes you go back there time and again. The setting is country style which evokes feelings of nostalgia especially if you have grown up on a farm or in the countryside. Suitable for lovely sunny weather and if it is cold and miserable there are cosy nooks with logfires with the bar close by. Try their gin and tonic and you will imagine that you are the queen mother. This is a definite venue for all our visitors from furthet afield.
