I went to the Victoria, a pub in Hitchin a few weeks ago for the 1st time ever, quite a little "secret". 7 of us went for a family Sunday lunch, only booked a few days beforehand which was rather surprising given the excellent quality...More

I went for lunch at the Vic last Thursday. And I can’t believe what I am reading from other reviews. The service was poor. The food was horrendous, I would never go again, I had a cheese melt sandwich and it was awful the cheese...More

If you are looking for a pub that has great beer and a sense of understated style, then you will love The Vic. Live music, local food, real ales (I know, I should be saying 'Craft Beers'!), outside seating and the lovely barn are just...More

Been to The Victoria many times. There's always so much on. Music, comedy, fine ale and, usually depending on who you're with, great company. Recommend this pub to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

I have always enjoyed my visits to the Victoria and eaten there a few times. I went there for Sunday lunch last weekend and was surprised to find the food very disappointing. Perhaps it was a bad decision to order the special - Torbay Sole....More

Been here many times, lunch, dinner, a few drinks, or to get some atmosphere watching the rugby on the big TV in the barn at the back of the pub. Food consistently good, drinks served at the right temperatures and the staff always welcoming. Great...More

We have been here several times and the food never disappoints- tend to have soup and a sandwich. The soup is clearly home made and the flavours wonderful- yesterday's was Jerusalem artichoke and carrot. It was amazing. The toastie hits the spot every time. The...More

This is a traditional pub, no frills, decor as befitting, beers served at the correct temperature, comfy, no gimmicks. Sunday lunch was generous, and served nicely in a bustling environment . Good to pop in if you are passing .
