Went with family while on vacation. Get get there early or you will wind up way back from the water. Beaches can be crowded (we went during a heat wave). Lots of rock and alcoves to explore. Cafes are right there.

Fantastic beach. Close by restaurants with reasonable prices. Lots of tack shops for inflatables and ice creams. A must visit!

We took the pirate ship to see the caves. The trip was lovely and we had a nice day out. I think the caves are over-rated except the very last one, the Praia da rocha but I think the experience would have been better had...More

This is definitely one of the best beaches l have visited. It’s very clean, and one of the biggest, great for children and there’s a lot of restaurants on the beach.

Beautiful sand, rocks and caves and plenty of food/cafe areas to choose from. Lots of access to the beach but steep and plenty of beds/umbrellas to hire if wanted.

Pretty beach but perhaps not worth a visit due to all the crowds, often choppy waters making it difficult to swim and so many other gorgeous beaches in Portugal.

Very active & busy...long stretch of beach. Water was amazing & we hired beach chairs €15 - not really worth it if you’re in the water most of the time.

We visited this sandy beach several times during our stay in Portimao. It has good access and facilities. The rocks that gives it its name adds to the experience.

Beach is public so there are no fees. Just parking fees on the streets. We saw people hanging out till late into the night even till midnight. There are designated umbrella areas and paid umbrella areas. €10 per whole day... More
