Arriving at the mines was different then we expected. There is almost no information and because we didn't book in advance we could not visit anything inside the closed area. It is strange to see this mine closed, it has almost a bit of a gloomy feeling, it was still functional up to the 90's but it looks amazing. We really hope they make it more accessible and then we will definitely come back. For now it is a great place to make some pretty pictures of industrial heritage. …

A potentially very interesting visit was obstructed by the simple fact that everything was closed. When you pass the Mobte Ponimarea by car you see a lot of abandoned buildings and sites, quite exciting. But unless you are into urban exploring you do not get to go inside. I looked for information on the internet prior to my visit, but could not get any info from reliable sources. We went anyway but found no place where we could enter. Returning to the topic of urban exploring: There are a lot of abondoned mining sites in the Iglesias-Carbonaria area, some of them a bit of the beaten track along gravel roads in the mountains. Vary nice if you have the opportunity to do som exploring on your own.…

We arrived at the mine thinking it was shut. A knock on the door was answered by very friendly Italian gentlemen who advised us to wait for five minutes for Roberto to arrive from his previous tour. What an experience - Roberto is both passionate and knowledgable about the subjects matter and took the time to show us all about the money's history and that of mining in Sardinia. His efforts were hugely appreciated and in spite of us trying to pay him for our tour he declined. An enjoyable and recommended experience! …
