Mone Kepouraion (also called kepouria Monastery is an incredibly scenic monastery literally hanging from a cliff in the western shore of the Palliki peninsula. It overlooks the Ionian sea and houses important religious artifacts, icons and a wood carved temple.

At the western edge of the island cropped on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Ionian. Breathtakingly beautiful coast line with an extraordinary sunset a must !

Drove cross country from Lixouri down some challenging roads/ tracks but the Monastery is not open to the public.

There is only one monk living there who is the caretaker for this monastery. He told us that the last monk to live there was there for 75 years!!

we drove to the monastery from XI, at first we got lost! so drove round quite a lot, we eventually got there at 1.15 and it closes at 1pm till 4pm the monk still let us have a quick look round but did,nt explain anything...More

Was told that you can sit on top of the cliffs there and watch the sunset but (and I know it's not their fault) the whole seating area was roped off due to subsidence caused by the big earthquake last January (2014). Apart from that...More
