We almost didn't bother with Polignac after seeing most of what there is to see in nearby Le-Puy-en-Velay. I'm so glad we made the effort! I don't really enjoy the rigidity of guided tours and this place was a joy to wander around by ourselves....More

We parked in the small car park at the bottom of the hill close to some picnic tables where we enjoyed lunch before heading up into the village and the castle. Even if you have bought your ticket in advance still call in to the...More

So much to see and do! Perfect for children, games laid out to play ( adults were enjoying them too!) Interest for historians, cooks, gardeners and folk who like to walk and explore. A brilliant morning.

We love capturing castles and this was a very good one to do. It dominates the surrounding countryside and the leaflet in English described the castle and its history very well. We had a delightful sunny day with beautiful views. It was great looking down...More

Charming site, not busy. The ruins are so interesting, and the lava plug-top location is unique. Great views of the surrounding valley, down to Le Puy, and south to the mountains.
