It’s very rare that you find a relic (or even a replica thereof) of the ancient world that you can approach up close, never mind actually touch! This magnificent high cross just sits outside the temporary tourist Centre; you can walk up and closely examine...More

I walked past this the first day we were in Kells, then with the help of the hotel staff, we found it on our way out of town. Amazing high cross - must see when in Kells.

Parking on street, easily accessed. The cross itself is broken, but protected by a plastic cover in front of the town hall. Short walk to town center.

If you visit Kells by all means drive down to the Market Cross that has been moved to the front of the Heritage Centre. Of the crosses at Kells, this one is probably the best, and with a protective covering hopefully will last several more...More

We drove to the city of Kells to see some sites and eat dinner. We saw the 9th century Market High Cross as soon as we drove into Kells. We pulled into a parking spot on the side and I snapped some pictures. Lovely.
