Took our dog along and he loved it too! This market has a Medieval half and a more modern part. Both are a nice mix. A bit crowded on a Saturday evening in December but the town is so lovely - who can resist.

After a week of touring western Germany and Strasbourg, so seeing lots of Christmas markets, this one is our favourite. Beautiful setting in the old town, and easy to reach from central Stuttgart. Lots of local food items, but medieval section is main attraction. Lots...More

We drove down from Frankfurt for the Esslingen markets and arrived just as they were opening. We hit the Advent Market first and enjoyed that, then wandered through streets and alleys until we found the Medieval Market. Wow! This was truly a feast for the...More

We've visited both Stuttgart and Essligen Christmas markets today. They are very different. Essligen is more local with a variety of traders away from the centre. The centre is an excellent mix of the medieval theme and the German Christmas. Watching the fire juggling medieval...More

This market has a medieval theme so it stands out against the other markets in the area. Great costumes, unique gifts and such and of course great food and drinks. Much smaller than Stuttgarts Market but a different setting. Well worth the visit!

Pretty hard to go wrong in Esslingen. The town is a giant postcard that practically begs to be photographed.

We were here the evening of Saturday,Dec.11,and left early. It was like Venice at Carnival time. The pedestrian traffic was completely blocked. Sometimes you can have too much success. The village center is quaint and probably interesting at another time, but under these circumstances it was...More

Esslingen is a picturesque town with half-timbered timbered houses along the river Neckar. The perfect backdrop for a christmas and medieval market. The main square holds a traditional christmas market, which is fine but similar to all other markets in Germany. The real treat here...More

After walking round the market in Stuttgart decided to go out to Esslingen. In general stalls a little cheaper than in Stuttgart but what sets this apart is the setting in a lovely town and the medieval section. As stated by other reviewers there is...More
