This is an interesting tourist spot. The "Mammoth" is a reference to its vastness. There is nothing related to a mammoth fossil or such. The grains, textures, and fault lines in the rocks and caves are amazing, particularly for people that love rocks. In a...More

This giant cave is very interesting. The visitor's path is relatively easy, i.e. no major elevation gain or loss. The guides are very knowledgeable. CAUTION: It is cold, down there (about -3 C). Dress accordingly.

I am putting my review here because there doesn't seem to be a place to review the ice cave separately. We didn't visit the Mammoth Cave, just the ice cave. First of all, you take a cable car in Obertaun up the mountain. Once you...More

The guide didn't speak English well and only spoke English while walking to each next viewing point. However, the amount of information he gave us was clearly a lot less than what he had said to the German speaking tourists. He seemed depressed and didn't...More

The tour of the Mammoth Cave didn't last more than 30 minutes. We wouldn't recommend it to tourists who don't speak German as the tour was done in German only. Although we were provided with a guide book in English, it was evident that it...More
