Very popular place but wonderful views and lovely walking area. Well worth a visit but avoid peak holiday times as just too many people. Dachstein scenic tours are incredible but not for anyone with vertigo!

Amazing place with the back story of hidden Nazi Gold somewhere in the murky waters of the lake. Wander the villag and then take the funicular up to the Salt Mine and see some magical views along the way.
We took a boat ride from Schiffstation in Obertraun to Hallstatt. The view of this village from the boat is simply awesome. Though small there is a lot to see in the town and there are many nice spots of good pictures.
Its a nice ropeway rice up to dachtein from where you walk to five fingers.
The view is great and you can spend a day easily here. Please remember to carry jackets so you can visit the ice caves where temperature is around minus 1...More
Visited Hallstatt and went on ahead to Dachstein skywalk panoramic view which was out of this world.
There's a walk of about half hour to The five fingers point Which is exhilarating.
