We arrived by train. A boat from Hallstatt crosses the lake to pick up people from the train. Great place for a home base while exploring the area. Town is very quiet but has a lot of history and things to see from the Church...More

Very popular place but wonderful views and lovely walking area. Well worth a visit but avoid peak holiday times as just too many people. Dachstein scenic tours are incredible but not for anyone with vertigo!

A very nice place for photo taking. Go either very early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowd follow by a sunset dinner. A great way to end the night

We drove from Salzburg, the views were spectacular from the top, we visited both caves, Mammoth cave was actually more interesting because the guide spoke a better English and so we could understand why certain places were called what they were called and why the...More

The village is "not as nice" as what we had seen/read on the magazines/travel brochures pictures depicting this place. No doubt this is a nice village with nice sceneries but it is overrated. It is not that serene nor does it have that idyllic quaint...More

Amazing place with the back story of hidden Nazi Gold somewhere in the murky waters of the lake. Wander the villag and then take the funicular up to the Salt Mine and see some magical views along the way.

We took a boat ride from Schiffstation in Obertraun to Hallstatt. The view of this village from the boat is simply awesome. Though small there is a lot to see in the town and there are many nice spots of good pictures.

Visited Hallstatt and went on ahead to Dachstein skywalk panoramic view which was out of this world. There's a walk of about half hour to The five fingers point Which is exhilarating. Let me not pre-empt, it's a must do. It's also a point where...More

G'day There are several parking lots in the village, all rather expensive. Just look for the signs and you should have no problem finding a space. Cheers Mike

The Ice Cave is open from 29 April until 29 October 2017. I think it is closed now due to weather condition Yes, you need cable car to get there, no matter what.
