A really well presented small museum. We went in as it was included with the Achensee Card and were pleasantly surprised. It was very quiet though, which is a shame as a lot of work has gone in to it.

Very interesting history of the stone oil production in the area, and the possibility to buy nice cosmetic products on the base of the stone oil.

If it rains too much to enjoy the great Austrian outdoors, then this little museum is worth a visit. It is informative, and you must visit the cinema for the music alone - pure Eurovision! The cafe upstairs is also good.

a nice and informative little museum intended to market the product of "Steinoel". Though expensive, I kinda like the smell, though my kids would disagree

Worth a visit to find out more about the Shale Oil story and how it shaped the local area. And also for the brilliant infomercial ending to the film about the Albrecht family and mining.

The story of tiroler shale oil made into creams and lotions, sounds weird but looks a lot of hard work. English audio headphones given. Entry free with achensee card.

This immersive museum can capture the imagination and tells a proud local story really well. We went on a lazy, drizzly day when we didn't feel like being out in the mountains. Staff in the gift shop are helpful and speak good English. Delighted with...More
