Great place to stop and explore a salt mine. I would recommend booking a reservation online. We took our chance and waited until we got there and had to wait another 1,5 hrs for our tour. Friendly, organized staff.

What an interesting site. Took a train into the mines all dressed up in overhauls that they furnish! Very interesting tour and it was topped off with salt mine slides (you will have to go there as hard to explain) and a catered dinner for...More

An experience not to be missed. All guided tours. You are given some white clothes to wear inside the mines. First take a train. Which looks more like a toy train..but it is fun. Then go through the mines a little walk with guide and...More

I've visited this salt mine. Interesting tour of about 1,5 a 2 hours, but nothing extraordinary. I would say it makes up for the ticket fee (€21 pp). I was unlucky to have a huge group of Chinese people in the group, so they did...More

We visited the Salt mine during our day trip to Hallstatt. You catch the furnicular up then a short walk up to the mine. We took the tour, which they give you pants and jacket to wear so your clothes don’t get dirty. Our guide...More

Visiting a salt mine can be a boring experience, but not here. I visited it with a 4 and 9 years old kids and they were amazed about the activities inside. It combines a dynamic activity with culture. Very recommendable.

A great experience for everyone, especially for children. The train, which is is more a toy train, takes you deep inside the mountain, then you slide deeper (a little scary experience, if you slide with a small child, but seems safe in retrospect), and finally...More

The old salt mines in Germany and Austria made the region wealthy throughout the Middle Ages, when the "white gold' was the only way to preserve food. The salt mine in Hallein is no longer actively mining, but instead welcomes tourists and history buffs to...More

The one we did had both slides and boat ride. We travelled with our teens and they loved it!
