So near to the town centre but away from it all into magnificent scenery where you can see miles of Wensleydale scenery before you. Lots of places to sit and enjoy the scenery. Wish I lived in the houses that face on the Shawl

Beautiful views, and perfect for people of all ages and capabilities. You can make the walk as long or as short as you want, but the views from the beginning are glorious!

This is a "must" for any visitor to Leyburn. It's only a minute from the market place and the views open out as soon as you reach the start of the Shawl. It's about 1.5miles in length but you can just walk for 20 minutes...More

A good walk with fantastic views, just off the top of town. Not very well signposted but everyone knows where it is, so do ask

This walk starts and ends in Leyburn where there is good parking. Walking to the West, it is relatively flat except for a downhill section from the 'elevated' shawl itself down and across the railway line. It is easy to follow with an o/s map,...More

Access to The Shawl is via Shawl Terrace in Leyburn which is on the opposite side of the road at the top of the market square. This is an easy walk, and you can make it as long as you wish. The distance from Shawl...More
