Interesting village to walk through. Historic references are marked, just a matter of keeping your eyes peeled. Castle is majestic. Whale skeleton is a novelty and was the subject of intense local rivalry, with Kilbrittan clearly won!

We saw this site on Atlas Obscura. Just a quick stop off the road, you can see the displayed skeleton of a whale that got beached in town. There's a kids playground there as well. Quick stop.

This is really ideal for kids and, maybe, missable for most others. There's a nice playground - but limited parking. This would not be great in rainy weather.

We had seen this poor whale after it died in 2009. Never knew the bones were on show. Found by accident today and my sons especially the sea life mad one were fascinated. Good parking lot just above...picnic area and a great playground.

We came across this place by accident when travelling through co. Cork. An unexpected discovery that led to another discovery of a picturesque walk way nearby.
