We go every year to the illuminated boats at derwent gardens. This year we noticed the price of everything had gone up. Entrance fee was £6.50 each, slightly less if you book online. Food and drink was rip off prices. Kids rides were now £2...More

It’s worth pointing out that accompanied under 16s continue to be free, and we do encourage people to book online in advance as it’s £1.50 cheaper for adults than paying at the gate. This means that a family of four, five, six or more can...More

The boats that were there were very good. However, I cannot believe the amount of people stood around waiting for 7 boats!! If this event is to continue, you definately need more boats! The fireworks were good.More

Factually there are 10 boats this year, which has always been the maximum number that can safely be accommodated on that stretch of river. And we don’t encourage visitors to wait for the boats to parade – there are lots of other things happening in...More

Sorry it really was disappointing. 8 floats on the river. They were good but for the price was bad. Fireworks were also disappointing. Won't ever go again

The illuminations consist of a dozen or so small boats lit up rowing up and down s stretch of river - motor car, red arrows, mallard train, etc, etc. No doubting the dedication of their builders, but hardly a spectacular to stand and watch for...More

Great place to visit and the cable car is an excellent attraction. The downside was the car park with numerous bays occupied by travellers and caravans. We had to park a mile away. Maybe as a council and tourist centre they should offer a park...More

Quaint Victorian town with a definite seaside feel. The Main Street very pretty with interesting little shops. Children loved the arcade and tucked opposite behind the water, over the bridge and turn right, Lovely new sand filled park area. Be careful of steep uneven stairs...More

The illuminations were really well done and seemed very popular! Definitely worth a visit, although I expected more decorations throughout the park.

Matlock Bath could be a beautiful little town, if it weren't for the 20 or so fish and chip shops, tattoo parlours and tacky souvenir outlets. As for the illuminations... well let's just say they weren't particularly illuminating. The town itself could make much more...More
