After several attempts, we had a clear sunny day. This was definitely worth the time and money. The views were amazing and the engineering marvel to complete this had me in awe. A great afternoon.

I was there for the start of Octoberfest and it was well worth the trip. I got the cable car up from the Austrian side which was an amazing experience. Be prepared for a big temperature difference between when you get the cable car at...More

Of course, you can easily access the Zugspitze from Garmisch on the German side. But a fun alternative is to take the cable car from the Austrian side, from Ehrwald. On top of the Zugspitze you can cross from Austria into Germany and back. Probably...More

This was one touristy attraction I wanted to do on our trip to Germany/Austria. We took the Zugspitzbahn from the Austrian side near the town of Ehrwald where we were staying. We got there early just as it opened and parking was easy and no...More

What an amazing experience. Big spacious restaurant on the Austrian side with lovely views and a small beer garden on the German side. The views were stunning. It's a must do for everyone.

That was our case. The ride up was sure an experience, though I had to keep my eyes closed from the half-way up as I am afraid of heights (and as getting closer to the station on the top, the cable car gets slower and...More

We traveled up the Zugspitze from the Austrian side (it's a bit less expensive than going from the German side and ends up in the same place) and had a great time. It was a little cloudy, so the views from the top weren't as...More

We were literally on top of the world. My wife and I and another couple took the back roads from South Tyrol (Northern Italy) to Ehrwald to catch one of the last Zugspitzbahn rides of the day. This trip was something I've always wanted to...More

Convenient for a quick jump to the summit, however fees are in sky high. We got a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 kids amounting to EUR 150 to go up and down (including the short trip down to glacier).

I wouldn't know because I've been there only during the skiing season, but I would expect it to be possible to go up and down from 8 am until maybe 10 pm in this time of the year
