About
Providers of Personalised Guided Cycling Tours for all ages and abilities. We have great ROAD and Mountain bikes to hire for this, along with a support vehicle/driver for comfort and safety if required. We cover the Peninsula, Wine Lands and West Coast daily and the famous Garden Route can be ridden on one of our longer multi day ROAD excursions. Daily hikes are also available on the popular Table Mountain, Lion's Head and Devil's Peak routes. We also know the trails and hikes less travelled if you want peace and quiet away from the maddening crowds either on the Peninsula or the Wine Lands too. Being a Tour operator, we have partners for accommodation in and around Cape Town and the Wine Lands along with Boat Based Whale Watching, Abseiling, Tandem Paragliding and of course our favourite local Wine Estates and their offerings. We have all the contacts nationally including our various partners in Kruger and Addo Nature Parks for all your safari requirements. Ask and we shall answer!

Mark planed 3 days cycling for me with him as guide. The weather wasn’t perfect due to strong winds but he picked a great set of routes, two road and one MTB. We rode most of the world famous Argos Cycle on day one but missed out Chapman peak as the road was closed due to the wind. Day two was an out and back ride along Clarence Drive. Day three was a ride round Table Mountain and Lions Head with great views over Cape Town city and Harbour, this done on the MTB. We then swapped back to the road bikes and cycled up to Chapmans Peak. Good bikes, great service and Mark is great company on and off the bike. Mark is also an official tour guide and very knowledgeable of the area and SA in general. I will be back for the Argos in 2021.

We were looking for a bike rental to go to Cape Point rather spontaneously, and lucky for us Mark was very responsive and prepared two excellent road bikes for the next morning. He then gave us advice, a map, and off we went. That day it was very windy, so if you plan the same trip and the forecast says its going to be windy, prepare yourself for some serious effort; but that's not Mark's fault. :) I can highly recommend Cycle the Cape!

Once I realised how expensive it was going to be to take my own bike to SA I made some speculative enquiries and Cycle the Cape were able to offer me a hybrid bike for two weeks at a very good price (and at fairly short notice). I had all kinds of questions and Mark was really helpful, prompt and reassuring with his replies.
As agreed, I collected the bike from Caledonian Cycles in Muizenberg, where the staff were great. In particular they were very patient and took time to adjust things on the bike for me and get me sorted out with other bits of kit that I might need for a two week solo tour.
Initially i thought I wanted a road bike, but the mtb I actually hired was exactly what was needed. I had a fantastic couple of weeks, with absolutely zero problems with the bike (not even a puncture), so my thanks to Mark and everyone at Caledonian for making this happen.

We did an 8 day road cycling tour with Mark through the wine lands and cape peninsula. Outstanding scenery, knowledgeable guide, beautiful high end boutique accommodations, and just a really good mix of time in the bike with time to do other things.
Mark and our driver Brian are a great team. The bikes we used were high end and well tuned, and Mark made adjustments along the way to ensure we had bikes that fit us well. The itinerary covered so many areas and ticked a lot of boxes for scenery, wildlife, wine tours, gastronomy, etc.
Great way to see the Cape… so much better than out the window of a car.

This was a 3 week trip with my wife and 8 club friends which took in a 2 week 700+ miles of cycling from Tsitsikamma to Cape Town, 3 day Safari and finished with an amazing climb up Table Mountain.
It was a wonderful unforgettable experience of different areas taking in the Garden Route, Bains Kloof Pass, Clarence Drive, Chapmans Peak and Cape of Good Hope to name a few. Also we visited the Penguins in Boulder and the many wine lands along the way.
The whole trip was arranged and expertly led by Mark Cycle the Cape which included the support of his great bike mechanic. Everything from Hotels to lunch stops and evening meals was taken care off for us all to simply enjoy the cycling and scenery of this beautiful country.
We can definitely recommend Mark for his knowledge and professionalism in making this tour a fantastic adventure of a lifetime for which we will treasure the memories forever. Thank you

What an adventure. From arriving in Cape Town to leaving 3 weeks later Mark our guide couldn’t have done more to create a truly unforgettable experience. Ten cyclists of mixed ability from Wakefield in the UK were set to cycle the challenging 700 mile route over 12 days across the coastal and inland roads taking in the popular Garden route and the wine growing regions along with the Karoo. There were many long climbs followed by exhilarating long descents. The boutique style accommodation each evening was of a high standard. Marks knowledge and enthusiasm to share what makes this beautiful country so special along with local knowledge pointing out places of interest and history. This was also invaluable for the planned cafe stops. Safety was first and foremost with each day starting with briefing as to what to expect. Two vehicles were escorting us ahead and behind with the ability to transport all bikes and riders if needed along with a bike mechanic to fix any mechanicals. We also managed to fit in a 3 day safari and a hike up table mountain. I could go on and on but the top and bottom of it all was an incredible adventure with lifelong memories of incredible scenery, roads and climbs.

Mark and his driver, Brian, were more amazing than words can describe. Mark accommodated various bicycle skill levels and provided wonderful road and mountain bikes as needed. He knows the roads as a local rider and knows when and where to avoid annoying cycling hazards. He took us on the most scenic 10 days of riding of our lives and we will be grateful forever. His company is highly recommended to anyone of any skill level needing a cycling guide in South Africa,

I was so lucky to have the opportunity to cycle with Mark! It was my last few days in Cape Town and Mark was able to make a last minute reservation on a Saturday -- it was the highlight of my three months in the cape. He gave me an ultimate tour, I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was on my bike. It was honestly the best. He let me borrow a helmet and shoes so I could clip. I highly recommend you don't miss out on this opportunity.

Mark and Brian were top notch hosts on our 8 day cycling tour of wine country. They knew all of the great spots and tailored the rides to our needs and the happenstance of the weather. Mark is a very knowledgeable guide who knows the area (and his wine) very well- highly recommend!

This has to be the best holiday experience of my life. We cycled over 700 miles on beautiful scenic routes planned by our very knowledgeable and experienced guide Mark Lawson. We had 2 support staff in vehicles, and Marwaan was a qualified and very competent bike mechanic. We cycled the famous Garden Route, and Chapmans Peak, went through National Parks, Mountain Passes, and the Winelands. The scenery on our rides was breathtaking and the wildlife amazing. We always felt safe on the cycling routes. Our guide had used his knowledge and experience to plan all the routes, hotel accomodation cafe stops and restaurant visits with great care. We had the best of everything and we were never disappointed at any stage of the 3 week tour. The 3 day safari at Inverdoorn was a great experience and one which I will always treasure. I cannot praise our tour guide enough for providing enough such a great and unforgettable experience.

I'll be in Cape Town for two weeks at the beginning of April and would like to do some organized biking-are there any daily or even overnight tours that I can join, particularly the dates 4/9-4/11, where can I find the schedule and routes? I'll need to rent a bike and gear as well..
