About
Providers of Personalised Guided Cycling Tours for all ages and abilities. We have great ROAD and Mountain bikes to hire for this, along with a support vehicle/driver for comfort and safety if required. We cover the Peninsula, Wine Lands and West Coast daily and the famous Garden Route can be ridden on one of our longer multi day ROAD excursions. Daily hikes are also available on the popular Table Mountain, Lion's Head and Devil's Peak routes. We also know the trails and hikes less travelled if you want peace and quiet away from the maddening crowds either on the Peninsula or the Wine Lands too. Being a Tour operator, we have partners for accommodation in and around Cape Town and the Wine Lands along with Boat Based Whale Watching, Abseiling, Tandem Paragliding and of course our favourite local Wine Estates and their offerings. We have all the contacts nationally including our various partners in Kruger and Addo Nature Parks for all your safari requirements. Ask and we shall answer!

Our family of four (kids ages 13 and 16) spent five wonderful days cycling Cape of Good Hope. Mark was an amazing help throughout our planning process. We wanted to ride on our own and carry our gear, but Mark was great about helping us rent the bikes we needed, answering questions, and supporting our planning. I sent him many questions ahead of time and he was always prompt and helpful in his responses. He was also willing to store the empty suitcase we’d used to cart our cycling gear while flying. We were happy with his support and service. I strongly recommend exploring South Africa by bicycle. The portion of our travels on bikes was the highlight for our family.

I contacted Mark through the website and arranged this trip with about 10 days notice. He checked my ability and bike requirements for the bike he provided.
Andy then picked me up on the day to take me to the start point and we set off on one of the most picturesque rides I’ve done. Andy was an excellent guide, good company and set a comfortable pace. He also knew a great coffee stop in Simons Town with excellent cake!
The hire bike was old but I had no issues with it, but I didn’t ask for anything special. It didn’t detract from the ride. All in all, I would highly recommend these guys for a guided ride while in Cape Town.

Once I realised how expensive it was going to be to take my own bike to SA I made some speculative enquiries and Cycle the Cape were able to offer me a hybrid bike for two weeks at a very good price (and at fairly short notice). I had all kinds of questions and Mark was really helpful, prompt and reassuring with his replies.
As agreed, I collected the bike from Caledonian Cycles in Muizenberg, where the staff were great. In particular they were very patient and took time to adjust things on the bike for me and get me sorted out with other bits of kit that I might need for a two week solo tour.
Initially i thought I wanted a road bike, but the mtb I actually hired was exactly what was needed. I had a fantastic couple of weeks, with absolutely zero problems with the bike (not even a puncture), so my thanks to Mark and everyone at Caledonian for making this happen.

Mark was a fantastic guide on this amazing peninsula tour of Cape Town. We covered 120km of jaw dropping beautiful scenery. Mark was very knowledgeable regarding the sites we visited and their history, and we stopped for some amazing pictures and great bites to eat and drink along the way. If you are visiting Cape Town and like cycling, then it's the best way to see some of the marvellous sites on offer. Couldn't recommend Mark and Cycle the Cape highly enough.

My husband and I just completed a 10 day ebike tour with Mark and his driver Brian. They are a great team! All of our rides were well thought out and when needed due to weather Mark quickly came up with an alternative route. I highly recommend this tour as it’s an exceptional way to see South Africa and Mark’s knowledge of the history of the area is amazing! He knows so much! We had exceptional accommodations, especially in Franshhoek and Montague and were never disappointed with dining options. The only draw back for us were the e-bikes. Not the greatest but that is due to availability in SA and not on Mark 😊

We did an 8 day road cycling tour with Mark through the wine lands and cape peninsula. Outstanding scenery, knowledgeable guide, beautiful high end boutique accommodations, and just a really good mix of time in the bike with time to do other things.
Mark and our driver Brian are a great team. The bikes we used were high end and well tuned, and Mark made adjustments along the way to ensure we had bikes that fit us well. The itinerary covered so many areas and ticked a lot of boxes for scenery, wildlife, wine tours, gastronomy, etc.
Great way to see the Cape… so much better than out the window of a car.

Mark and Brian were top notch hosts on our 8 day cycling tour of wine country. They knew all of the great spots and tailored the rides to our needs and the happenstance of the weather. Mark is a very knowledgeable guide who knows the area (and his wine) very well- highly recommend!

My husband and I just finished a fabulous 10 day bike tour of the Wine Route and the Cape. Mark guided us on a beautiful and diverse route that gave us a real appreciation for the country. He was always ready to tweak our route so we had the best experience. Our accommodations were also great and were a reflection of SA’s uniqueness and the food was consistently delicious. Mark and his assistant, Brian, are great people and wonderful hosts. I highly recommend a tour with Cycle the Cape.

Mark sorted out a lovely carbon road bike so that I could ride the Cape Town cycle race. The bike was in tip top condition and the whole experience was most impressive-look forward to using him again next year!

I'll be in Cape Town for two weeks at the beginning of April and would like to do some organized biking-are there any daily or even overnight tours that I can join, particularly the dates 4/9-4/11, where can I find the schedule and routes? I'll need to rent a bike and gear as well..
