Today one has to look at this big rock by the shore from a 'Mirante', a view point. Located in the island's north, not far from the Porto do Santo Antonio one is not allowed to go to the rock itself, since it is a strictly protected marine life area. This was not always so, since in previous times a girl named Raquel, who had dawn syndrome and who was the daughter of a military commander posted here, used to hide by this rock - so the story goes.

All the tourist guides try to take you there...but there is nothing special to see there. If you want to see sharks there are better places.

It's part of the island tour to visit this place, but it doesn't impress you. The story behind it is hilarious.

Interesting place and befitting name for a large hole! Great picture taking but be careful of the terrain.

Went there with our jeep tour and had a nice look out, took some great photos. He had a somewhat inappropriate story to tell about the site...translates to "Rachel's Hole" and as my name is Rachel, everyone got a good laugh. :) Fun sculptures and a quick walk up to the Chapel if you're keen.

We were so lucky to sit and watch about 10 sharks enjoying the warmer water in the bay playing around with each other. The went around the corner to see the small shark museum.

The beach is not so special to me. Basically nothing to do, just see it from the top and listen to the story about raquel. The view is beautiful but not really amazing, you got nothing to lose if you dont come to this place
