Great walk out from Voss to the Gorge (about 30mins) and even 2 teenagers (14 & 16) enjoyed seeing the gorge then walking back into town. Well worth a walk on a half day off :-)

Incredible beautiful, easy to access. Just a 30 minute walk from the center of Voss. Really magical to visit in fall time.

It is a nice walk for 1 hour from the town center through the settlements. Make sure that you go through Prestegardsmoen and over the walkers bridge. You can use Google Maps ti find the location. My kids loved it.

Image the power that created this!! And the energy in a full river passing the ravine. I have experienced that before, not daring to enter the ravine but observed the weather from a distance.

This was a wonderful way to spend an hour or two when in Voss. From the city center it's about a 45-minute walk, which itself is quite enjoyable. There are several viewing areas to see the waterfall and the gorge itself. We did it on a cold and rainy day (so it was a bit slippery), but it was still a nice way to get outside and enjoy the area. They also had parking, so if you're traveling via car, it is very accessible.

This is a scenic walk from central Voss through a woodland along the lake’s edge before crossing the river and heading away from town. Arriving at the Bordalsgjelet, you find a bridge and when you look down you will see the depth of the gorge. The best views can be gained by walking through the gate, and alongside the gorge. Simply beautiful. Very pleased that we took this walk - about 45 minutes each way, well signposted and relatively flat for most of the way.
Thanks for your vote.

Some previous reviewers mentioned it was a bit confusing to find. We used Google maps on the phone and had no trouble, but here's the easy directions:

Walk along the lakeside trail from town with the lake on your right past the campground.
Cross the footbridge over the river then walk up the steep road to the right.
Follow the road as it curves up and to the left after about 500 meters and follow the signs from there to turn left, then right at the school and into the gorge.

The gorge is verdant, lush, and lovely. There are three spots where trails lead down into the gorge and each one is worth checking out. Roundtrip time walking from downtown Voss along with taking time seeing the gorge is about 2-3 hours depending upon your pace.

The place can be reached with about 40-50 minutes of walking from Voss centre. The walk goes in very nice places, so it is by itself a sight. There are signs all around the way to mark the road for the tourists, so it is hard to miss. Bordalsgjelet itself seemed to be amazing from the picture, but it was just so much better in real life. There are 3 separate places marked very well where you can climb down and check the breathtaking views. I'd advise to wear waterproof clothes, as rain/water is falling down from the rocks right to your head. Would definitely recommend to check this!

We decided to the norway in nutshell on our own from Bergen and our first stop was Voss from where we had to connect bus for Gudvangen. Voss is a small town in Western Norway and I think the packaged water made the town so popular. It is later I get to the bottled water do not have any plant in voss but I must say the town is so rich I. Oxygen and pure water the name for bottled water is pretty apt. Anyway, we somehow miscalculated our connecting bus timing and realized the bus for ferry at Gudvangen via steilheim was after 4 hours. And while we had no intention to spend time in Voss we were forced to spend time here and trust me it turned out to be an awesome experience. So we went to nearest tourist center. The lady there was extremely helpful. She let us keep our bags in her office and helped us on how we can spend our next 4 hours. She suggested this trek to Bordalsgjelet Gorge which was 2 mm trek from the office. The trek starts from city center just next to the lake and goes along the lake side and into the Woodlands. The path is well marked. As you move on you come across a bridge over the river which has couple of viewing decks. As you cross the bridge you start walking uphill through a residential neighborhood and again into Woodlands to find this beautiful chasm with water gushing through the gorge. It was a spectacular sight. The overall hike was so refreshing and beautiful. We later walked back and came across this sushi place in city. The hike made us really hungry and this sushi place was a saviour. We took our bus in time and started our journey to Gudvangen.
