We walked over the cliffs from Bondi and came across Bronte beach. Not as commercial as Bondi, it's a decent size. Pretty.

Bronte is a smaller beach set well back with a decent area of sand and interesting rocks north and south and good surf. Less commercial that Bondi and Coogee and quieter and more pleasant.

Bronte is less crowded than Bondi and has it all: Public transport, several cafes, clean sandy beach, good surf and even free natural and artificial pools at the southern end.
