So much to see. If they have the 25 minute docent tours in the various space, DO IT! The stories really make the experience in my book. Also time your visit to include the wayfinders presentation in the planetarium. I teared up towards the end... nothing sad just heartwarming. I love this museum. The buildings, grounds and views... peaceful. Very nice gift shop too.

Glad I got to check this museum out during my visit! The first floor of the main building was my favorite: it's a chronological tour of Hawaii's monarchy lineage and history, and it was a great summary into learning about the past. Not to mention, there is currently a very neat surfing history exhibit going on that I think is definitely worth checking out-whether you're a surfing aficionado or not!

Bishop museum is the museum of Hawaiian history, and a beautiful complex and buildings to house it in. For most visitors, this may be a rainy day activity, but whatever the reason for your visit, it is worthwhile if you have interest in Hawaiian history.

Beautiful collection of Pacific Islanders history shown through ’realms’ (floors of the great hall). Sea, Man, and Heavenly. First floor has a changing exhibit. When I visited it was on music focused on the guitar. I was not interested so I didn’t explore. Nice native garden to walk through. Changing exhibit in the Memorial building was the history of surfing. A really enjoyable history of the board! Great lawn is a great place to let kids run and expel some energy. Planetarium was closed Science Adventure Center was under renovation and a lot of hands on exhibits not working due to Covid. Gift shop is the best I have seen on island! Masks are a must
