Date Visited: July 2017 Pearl Harbour Tour, a half day tour I booked my tour with Royal Hawaiian Limousine LLC through TripAdvisor. I choose my bus pick up at 8am. I couldn’t remember how much I paid for the Pearl Harbour National Memorial tickets and tour. It was hotel pick up and drop off. The price included not only transportation but also the entrance to the Pearl Harbour. There was a film footage from 1941 Japanese attack. A boat ride was included with the trip from and to visit the USS Arizona Memorial over the sunken battleship. It is a war site, seen the names on the walls who died from that the Pearl Harbour attack. The Pearl Harbour National Memorial which you can explore the waterfront memorials, explore the museums, watch the actual footage on the attack on Pearl Harbour which was moving for me. There are lots of exhibits both indoor and outdoor which I had found them interesting. Be respectable and be solemn. Our bus drove through historical Honolulu. Giving a tip was an optional but I did give. I recommended to wear loose smart casual outfit and shoes.

Pearl Harbor is a place that you know that you just have to go to if you get the chance. So, while in Hawaii, we went. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as it is unlike any other National Parks that I have been to. I love history and thought that I knew quite a bit about Pearl Harbor, but I learned so much here. The way the exhibits are set up are really good at walking you through the story of it all. I also didn't really know what to expect out at the USS Arizona. It was so much more amazing than I imagined. Everybody at the Pearl Harbor site was really friendly and helpful too. We actually missed our boat, but they were very kind about getting us on the next boat. My daughter had a great conversation with one of the rangers when she got her passport book stamped too.

My sister was dying to go here and at first I could take it or leave it. Upon arrival, I had completely done a 180! There’s a lot of history and the exhibits are extremely interesting. The submarine is a little tight but you definitely get a feel for what life would be like in a sub. The museum also showcases memorabilia from other the Navy’s of other countries. Very interesting and definitely worth the visit!

History was my favorite subject in high school where I took AP US History and passed the AP Exam. However I never really appreciated history until several years later after graduating college. I believe one way to appreciate history is to see it "live". In 2002 I went to Japan for the World Cup where one of the cities I visited was Hiroshima. At that city I saw the Atomic Bomb Dome, which is a building that was destroyed by the atomic bomb from WWII. It was an up close experience to see that building. Two years ago I went to Pearl Harbor however during that time visitors weren't able to disembark from the ship onto the USS Arizona Memorial as the ramp needed repairs. This time not only would I be taking the ferry to see the USS Arizona but also I would be able to visit the USS Arizona Memorial. I came here on a Tuesday before Thanksgiving. As I was on the USS Arizona Memorial in a moment of silence I wanted to give thanks to those servicemen who gave their lives. When you're on the USS Arizona Memorial it is perpendicular to the sunken USS Arizona. This forms a cross that provides a holy resting place for the perished. This is one site that you can't see on TV. Being here in person you feel the magnitude for those who served our country. Over a 1,100 serviceman on the USS Arizona died during the Attack on Pearl Harbor however over 900 who perished remain entombed with the sunken USS Arizona. In a sense the memorial is also a grave. That's why even though there can be a lot of people at a time the atmosphere isn't loud. There's a respect that the visitors acknowledge. As with the Atomic Bomb Dome, USS Arizona Memorial is a war site that you can't hide from. As you see parts of the USS Arizona protruding above the water you can't hide away from seeing these parts. After seeing the names on the wall that died from the Pearl Harbor Attack you can't hide away from those names. When you see the sunken USS Arizona in the water you can't hide away that image from your mind. Visiting Pearl Harbor with a short ferry ride the USS Arizona Memorial is a moving experience. Reading history is important but that takes a whole another level by visiting history such as visiting the USS Arizona Memorial on Pearl Harbor.

This is somewhere you must visit if you come to Hawaii. Great info about the WWII, and how it all started from here.
