My father's ship ( USS Helena ) was hit during the attack on Pearl Harbor. I visit every time to Oahu.
May 2021
A "Must See" when on Oahu. For profit tours provide a way to see various areas of Honolulu along with the Memorial. However, the time is highly controlled and never enough while at Pearl Harbor.
I recommend taking the bus. We did this for $5 a ticket and with Honolulu traffic it took only 1 hour and 10 minutes---only 10 minutes longer than traffic apps estimated for driving.
Admission to the National Memorial is FREE! High prices only come from tours. There are fees for travel to the Arizona, the submarine and museum then also for trips to the Air Museum and Missouri. Every single museum is amazing. We spent over 2 hours touring the USS Bowfin, a WWII submarine and the adjacent museum. These are some of the best museums on the planet--don't miss them.
Reservations are a must for getting to the Arizona. It is a place of reverence and history , as is the entire facility. Seeing the oil still seeping from the sunken ship is a reminder of how fast life can change.
The Memorial opens at 7 AM, tours to the Arizona begin later. It is important to know that a number of spaces on the shuttles are reserved for the tour groups who pre-book by the hundreds, which can make general public reservations more difficult to get. If you cannot get your own reservation and you really want to experience the Arizona then I suggest you book a commercial tour so you can at least get there.

Disappointing
Jun 2021
I expected much more for the high prices. Other than the location, nothing special - like most military museums and sights.

Could never get a ticket to the memorial
Jun 2021
We could never get a ticket to the memorial due to having to get them online at 3:00 pm for the next day. Just never worked out for us. However we did enjoy the grounds at pearl Harbor, the big ship tour and the aviation museum. We were to exhausted for the submarine tour. We will do it on our next trip.

Inspiring tour of Pearl Harbor
May 2021 • Couples
Very sobering visit to the USS Arizona memorial and USS Missouri battleship. We had arranged for a tour bus that provided pickup and drop-off at our hotel, but next time we plan to do the visit with a rental car. The schedule was too tight to see everything, as there are several exhibits to see. I would recommend to not bring a bag as they will make you put any bags in a locker when you enter the premises. Also the time on your ticket when making reservations is the time for your boat ride to get to the USS Arizona memorial, and make sure to get in line for the boat at least 10 minutes before your assigned time. Definitely check out the battleship if possible, you can tour the entire inside of the ship which is very interesting!

No need for tickets to the Arizona!
Jun 2021 • Friends
You don’t need to purchase any tour to go out to Pearl Harbor! And the line for the Arizona was so short on the day we went! We were all told & read beforehand that we wouldn’t be able to get to go out to the Arizona unless we had those tickets you have to get through the recreation.gov site. We tried that & they were all gone in minutes. The day we got there the ranger told us we could get in line for standby, and that the line moved pretty fast. We got in line at 9:42 & made it on the 10:00 boat! Others in our group that came later in the week said the line was a little longer & waited closer to an hour, but still doable! We had the Go Oahu pass to use for our admittance to the other sites & made a wonderful day id it. We even went across the street to the swap meet & got all of our souvenirs for good prices on the first day in Hawaii!

Great Historic Visit
Jun 2021 • Family
What a fantastic, historic place.

Two things reduced the experience—crowds and a good number of the employees are grouchy.

Overall, it’s a great experience and I highly recommend it.

A beautiful place
May 2021
Such a solemn and beautiful place. It is so emotional to be looking down at the final resting place of so many military servicemen. The tree of life is magnificent. When you are at the USS Arizona Memorial, make sure you read about the burials at the memorial of servicemen who survived the bombing. They can choose to have their ashes buried inside the USS Arizona with their brothers.

Since this issue is brought up by several reviewers, I will give you my two cents. Your tickets will state that no bags are allowed. Very true. If you want to easily enter the Pearl Harbor museums, wear pants with multiple pockets and place your phone and wallet in your pockets and wear your camera around your neck. Leave your bags in the car. We were able to get into every exhibit with ease. I did see others were delayed because they had to place their bags in a locker or take them back to the car. Save yourself the headache. I did not see even one person with any sort of bag, so there are no exceptions no matter what you read about clear stadium bags being allowed.

We bought passport tickets to Pearl Harbor that included USS Arizona narrated tour, USS Missouri, USS Bowfish Submarine and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum. You still need to buy a timed ticket to the USS Arizona Memorial that gets you on the boat to go to the memorial itself. The passport was well worth the price. Get there early and expect to spend the entire day. We arrived at 9am and left at 5pm.

Fantastic experience. A must do once in a lifetime.

Great but you have to go early to your tour
May 2021
We arrived 20 minutes before our paid tour and they held us up at the front gate, you can't take anything in larger than a wallet and phone. They held us up getting our tickets and we missed our tour, we had to wait 2 hours to get on the tour as standby which was the last of the day. GO EARLY at least 45 Minutes early. Otherwise it was very nice and quite sad.

Peaceful and Amazing Tribute
Nov 2020
We went during Covid, and I don't think that there could have been a better time to visit. Due to social distancing, our tour was small, maybe 30 people at most. There will never be another chance to go and not have it packed.

We opted for the deluxe audio tour as well, and it was worth every penny of the $13 per person that it was. I was surprised how cheap it was actually.

I wrote my Senior thesis in college on Pearl Harbor, and the fact I was able to visit the memorial in person is something that I will always hold dear to my heart.

This is an absolute must do, it is so quiet and peaceful. The Missouri and plane museum are not open, but take your time to go through the walk through museums and listen to the audio, you won't regret it.
