While walking on the Riverwalk, we found ourselves in a delightful addition to the Riverwalk. We had no idea that this was here! Close to the Art Museum. Walking through the Grotto, we found a waterfall, beautiful molded stonework that looks like it had been...More

Lots of people focus on the Riverwalk in the downtown area, but if you start at the Pearl and travel South, you see a lot of interesting art attractions. The artist behind the Grotto has other works around San Antonio (even at least one here...More

This grotto is located just outside the downtown area and is a hidden gem. i took time to sit alongside the river and enjoy people watching at the grotto. There is plenty of shade to escape the heat and the grotto makes for great photo's.

Coming to this place while looking around the construction, isolated, lonely... it provides a sense of non worthy of a visit; however, as one walks down the stairs and start to see the rock shapes, waterfall sound and cool breeze, we were intrigued and were...More

We walked through the Grotto since we were on the Riverwalk, and to be honest, I found this area to be very quiet and not overly interesting. Yes, there are some sculptures to be seen, and there is some nice building architecture if you are...More

The Grotto offers a great insight of what the San Antonio area is all about it has easy access and from the riverwalk you can travel to other scenic sights.

Stumbled upon this while strolling down the river walk after passing the fish "swimming" under the underpass. The river walk has little surprises along the way both visual and auditory (there's a cool bird sound scape under a nearby underpass as well). Very nice!

Interesting sculptures along the river. Walking toward downtown there is a school of fish hanging out under the IH35 overpass/bridge that are illuminated at dusk. Shortly afterward (during summer) bats swarm out from their roosts under the bridge and work the river area for food...More
