We walked through the Grotto since we were on the Riverwalk, and to be honest, I found this area to be very quiet and not overly interesting. Yes, there are some sculptures to be seen, and there is some nice building architecture if you are...More

Substantial and amusing sculpture on the upper River Walk by local artist Carlos Cortez. Look into the centre of it to see a classical-looking head and there's also a nice shell-shape. Cortez must be one of the few artists in the world who uses the...More

Keep your eyes open and stroll slowly along the Riverwalk because you'll see something interesting around every turn. This interesting and unusual sculpture that looks like a grotto, and an underground cavern is one of these attractions. Not far away is the F.I.S.H. Exhibit of...More

Interesting sculptures along the river. Walking toward downtown there is a school of fish hanging out under the IH35 overpass/bridge that are illuminated at dusk. Shortly afterward (during summer) bats swarm out from their roosts under the bridge and work the river area for food...More

This is truly a hidden gem in San Antonio. It is so awesome to take pic and there is a parking lot next to the entrance free of charge. You are also so close to the river walk.

The grotto was pretty cool to see. It's a bit of a hike from the downtown area. It's about 3/4 of a mile down from the museum district side.

Just one of this many cool finds you'll see along the new expansion of the river. If you haven't been downtown in a while, you should make time. It's such a beautiful peaceful area of town.

BUT if your in the Pearl District, it's a short walk to take a quick look. We sat & enjoyed it a but before heading on.
