We'd heard from everyone that the Alamo is so small and while it IS small, the historical aspect makes it a must and the grounds are beautiful and interesting. It's right in the heart of town and should not be missed! Plus it's free to...More

The plaza outside the Alamo is well done for a number of reasons. First, because there are the remains of historical buildings long since destroyed, it's a way to protect that history. There are placards situated around the property, as well as special markings on...More

Take a stroll over and visit the grounds. If you are a Texan, it will make you proud. If you are a yankee it will help you understand Texans. Sit through the short video in the long barracks-it is pretty good.

This is a great area around the Alamo. There are serveral shops and restaurants close by. The area is sort of blocked off from traffic but still be aware. Definitely get a guide that can show you the actual site of the walls around the...More

It was something to do in Texas, but you can walk thru it in an hour and be on to your next adventure. Not a lot to do there.

Very well maintained area. Alamo is so rich in heritage. Lots of room to roam around there. Once you go through the Alamo doors you can access the gardens in the back and the areas set up to show life back in those days.

A little respect in the Alamo Mission is expected. Mission also served as Spanish military post, holding cells along with the compounds living quarters. Theres more to the grounds beyond the battle for Texas Independence as it helped the natives. Alamo has larger perimeter that...More

We went on July 4 and they had an absolutely amazing presentation and activities for the public. It was all free and absolutely patriotic. The volunteers were dressed in period costumes and did an incredible job explaining the lifestyle and responsibilities of the people that...More

Just two blocks from the River Walk, Alamo Plaza has so much to offer for the family. The Ripley's Haunted House is our favorite! You can find tons to do, lots of snow cones to purchase, and see the Alamo at dark, which is breath-taking....More
