We drove the Howland Hill Rd - I would recommend it only if you have a high clearance vehicle - its a pretty rough road but amazing scenery. We hiked the Boy Scout Trail and then to Fern Falls - about 7 miles round trip...More

We made this part of a day trip. The trails are well marked and the ones we were on are walkable. The poorer reviews are for campers, which we were not. I would recommend this as part of your redwoods tour.

Lots of beautiful hikes in among the redwoods. If you can’t hike but want to see the redwoods up close and personal drive along Howland Road just outside Crescent City.

To see these trees and try and imagine how the forests were formed takes your breath away. You must stop to give yourself an idea of the sheer size and denseness of the forest.

It’s great that in 1929 someone decided to think about the future and set this land aside for the future. It’s amazing. A drive through is great. And the trees are amazing. It’s not crowded in early April.

When you are driving between the redwoods . Take your time for the on coming cars and the bumps. The smaller the vehicle the better. It is worth the time.

this was a gorgeous place to visit - hands down epic. the drive through the trees was amazing and it wasn't too crowded with cars so we could stop and take some pics.

I live in the midwest and have never seen such magnificent giants in my whole life. This was part of my 50th birthday gift from my amazing husband. You can either drive or walk trails, this is a must see!

I am not a fisherman. However this area and to the north is the Steel Head fishing mecca of the world. Unfortunately the season ends at the end of March. I think you are still allowed to catch-and- release.
